Strong stories that he's on the verge of signing for us tonight. Just trying to get some thoughts on him?
He's a player that needs to be handled like cotton wool.
When he first came over in his first loan spell, he was fed all the bullshit in the world by Roberto Martinez about how phenomenal he was.
It worked, his first loan spell here, he was excellent. It helped that it was our best season since 1988 though, and everyone was playing great. Also that he was an unknown player, so defenders weren't sure how to handle him.
He went back to Barca to be in their first team, but then they made a decision to loan him to Sevilla. Which I think pissed him off. He totally flopped for them.
So then we signed him from Barca (with a buy back clause), and he wasn't going past defenders like he used too. He also did not track back. So he left us open defensively. So incredibly, we loaned him out to Milan.
He was pretty decent for Milan and the fans loved him. Then Barca buy him back off us.
In my opinion, I think Watford should stay away. I think he believes he should be playing for Barcelona. If not, one of the bigger clubs in Europe. (He could flop for you like in his Sevilla loan or his second spell for us) And he has the talent, but he only shows it 10 minutes of a game.
Personally I think he'll go to Italy. And he'll be a success there.
