Was Neville Southall any good ? It's like saying we're the Beatles any good ! Was and will remain the greatest goalie ever to grace Goodison, and I was blessed to have seen him in all his pomp .

I was at the spurs game in 85 , they were a great side and it was a close game , then Mark Falco headed a scud goal bound, the spurs fans were celebrating, but the cat somehow clawed it out . Was the greatest save I ever seen . He's in the top 3r of the Greatest players to have played for us . Not even a legend ! He's a God

Well johnjoeefc, I'm a City fan of 60 years so I reckon I've been lucky enough to see some great keepers starting with Bert Truatmann through to the likes of De Gea (see no bias), and I'd put " big Nev" in my top 3. Hope it shows the respect other fans had for him.

Always thought the club should have made a DVD of Southall and his saves. mad thing was he would make world class saves and just get a quick clap cos that was what we were used to and expected. Only really appreciated just how good he was when we had clowns like Gerrard, Myhre and Wright conceding goals that Neville would probably save still now.
