..I doubt there’ll be the tv monitor decision at the side of the pitch. I can see that being ditched and the process becoming more streamlined. Either the 4th Official will adjudicate and inform the referee (as in cricket), or it will be shown on a big screen (as in rugby).

That’s how I think it will go but regardless, it’s here to stay.

Again thugh, the flaw in the system is what's chosen for review:

Everton players dont see a handball in the area for us; Man Utd players dont see a hand ball in the area for them. Which one is getting pulled back for review?

Maybe in future keep it to a set number of reviews per team?

I may well be wrong, but if neither side sees something, VAR can see something and suggest the Ref takes a look. The Ronaldo punch/slap a case in point.

I thought France got the benefit of the doubt throughout, but then again I had Croatia in the sweep......

It should only be after a team appeals and then, yes as you say, they get three appeals per game (and retain that many if each appeal is accepted)....just like Hawkeye's use in tennis per sets.

A pen was awarded via VAR in an MLS match a few minutes ago. The difference being the ref has no say in it. The VAR official(s?) make the decision and tell the ref what to call.

That's what I'm saying. I dont see any panelist jumping in for us though and exercising that discretion if we're playing an "elite" team. Other way around? Defo.

It's all subjective...so may as well stick with the man in the middle and keep an eye on him.

The system should have been trialled and perfected before the World Cup finals though.

I understand your paranoia, as a football fan its understandable.

Lets keep an eye on the man in the middle though......Collinia, Thomas, Clattenburg.....

I'd agree with that, goal line tech is instantaneous and indisputable, we may possibly be able to do the same thing with offside one day. As for the rest, let the ref sort it and stop crying about decisions to cover up your own poor performances

...yes, the old system was flawed. Not sure why we need to replace it with another flawed one strewn with human error and potential bias though.
