There is a fundamental issue with the way he receives the ball when we are trying to attack - people stop passing him the ball because he just faces back towards goal and he doesn’t have the ability to take one touch and turn.

He refuses to overlap and just can’t receive it in stride or try and face up a defender.

This is the most urgent position in the team that needs upgrading. Solid defender but nothing with the ball at his feet, no improvement over the years in fact he looks slower. At home a major factor in the poor results is that the full backs do not/cannot contribute.
