He is just too awkward. When he had the ball wide open without a soul to contest him and everyone ready to receive a free ball into the box, he passed it directly to Villa which could have buried us. In general we need better quality in those areas from everyone. Myko tends to be especially poor.

Another game which highlights Mykolenko’s strengths; under the cosh, 1v1 defending and not expected to contribute too much going forwards.
This is why he’s definitely a player to keep in the squad; but we need a more attack-minded left back for games where we’re expected to win. Hopefully Aznou will get more minutes in those types of matches but delighted for Myko today.

Except we defended really well. Myko is our latest boo boy. Not great going forward but a sound international who played his part in another clean sheet against an excellent team. Dont let that fact get in the way though.
Yes. Myko is an excellent defender with no pace. Grealish is an excellent left half with no pace. It appears only Myko is at fault though.
That is rubbish. We get it wrong at times and thosw times can be woeful. Not all of the time though and less often than recent years.

He was far and beyond the weakest link in defence yesterday and Patterson was playing lol . Villa should of capitalised on his behalf a few times . If you're happy with him then thats fine , it's easy to overlook a poor display when you win.

Caught on positionally a few times ball watching and missed a few simple headers could and should of cost us
A bit odd that he has the awareness/movement to overlap and go forward, but has apparently never learned or practised crossing.
I don't recall any incidents when I really thought he had made a hash of it and put us in trouble. Tarks played the same suicide pass out of defence that cost us the other week. Got away with it this time yet nobody is slagging him off. Nobody is perfect. They cut it back a few times and their finishing was awful. Our central defenders nowhere near it. A clean sheet against a really form team and yet some people want to focus on Myko making the odd imperfect tackle or header as the entire defence did, but they were good enough. Of course a Baines type would be better but we have not got one and Myko is a good defender who we should keep as a reliable back-up if we do get a better one ready to go now.
