2025/26 Vitalii Mykolenko

I'm guessing it's because we have no other left backs other than Aznou and Moyes would rather dip his nethers in hot sauce than play Aznou.
Quite.

I seem to recall Moyes being similarly reluctant to play Oviedo, however he was up against one Leighton Baines. Admittedly Martinez got more out of Oviedo than Moyes ever looked like doing , but y'know Baines. You'd have to be special to get Baines displaced regularly.

Aznou can't displace Mykolenko who is routinely disparaged. Of course folk all jump on the manager, but come on, Myko is bog average at best and the kid is not even challenging him.

Aznou may well be terrible, I have no idea. Mykolenko is rubbish but I stand by my original comment on why he plays every game.

Explain yourself laughing boy @Hinchcliffe's Corner
I think he spoke for himself. Myko's bang average, but to conspire that he's here for other reasons is hilarious. As mentioned by other posters, his stats aren't the worst before joining us, and he does a more than serviceable job in defence. He used to go forward under Lampard and that was a travesty, we've seen Dyche and now Moyes effectively coach him into staying back.

Yes it certainly seems Aznou is the new Oviedo.

Utterly bizarre as he bought Oviedo for sunderland i think.

The issue is that Aznou has been very highly rated throughout his youth career.

Its highly unlikely hes not good enough to have any time on the pitch at all.

Moyes did say he needs to bulk up. That may be a fair assessment.

However, its now 4-5 months since then and was going to get 5-10mins against forest.

The rest of the season is critical for Aznou and the lack or gametime makes no sense.

It would be strange if he was selected today. At some stage you need to drop horribly out-of-form players and give youngsters a go, even if it's to show that they're not quite ready. It would be very, very difficult for any player to come in and look significantly worse than Mykolenko.

No chance that will happen with Moyes.
