2025/26 Vitalii Mykolenko

Perfect for us.

Mediocrity writ large. "He'll do".
He’s probably improved a bit defensively as well. But you just can’t have someone that limited with the ball with the way we play out wide.

The full backs are set up to bomb and overlap with the way our wingers play, and yet we have Myko and JOB doing the overlapping.

Thats a very bizarre way of framing it. He’s turning 33 at the end of this season, at which point he’ll have already played 4 1/2 seasons after we sold him. You might aswell say it was a good deal because he’ll be 50 one day.

If you sell players at their peak value and reinvest in younger players then you are able to build a squad and of course sign potentially better replacements.

Having Digne at 33 would be just the same as keeping Baines & Coleman until they are worth nothing.

This hits you massively on PSR and prevents clubs from pushing into the top positions.

If a £15mil bid came in for Tarkowski or a £40mil offer was made for Pickford then due to their ages you should sell.

He is not great with the ball, but one thing that myko does time and time again is overlapping giving grealish plenty of spaces to operate in. Contrary to obrien on the other side...the only times when obrien goes forward is when pickford tries to aim him for him to then headed to a teammate. Most of the times unsuccessfully. Myko might not be great with a football, but beside obrien is Cafu. Probably not fair to compare them, but its on moyes...he is the one choosing those 2 to play as fullbacks.

Defensively he was good yesterday but offensively he offers nothing which you can't get away with if you have any aspirations of winning trophies or trying to finish high up the league. He'd be a decent back up for certain matches where you need to be defensively compact or coming on to shore up the defence if protecting a lead but as a starter in a team that wants to dominate and be attacking he's a serious hindrance

Defensively sound last night but being at the game last night just confirmed even more what you see on TV. Him and O'Brien are the worst full backs in the league on the ball. Not even the slightest intention from either to offer anything in attack.
