2025/26 Vitalii Mykolenko

He’s the starter for the next 3/4 years assuming the war goes on that long

He is a Ukrainian first and player a very distant second

The current climate dicatates he must stay and we must suffer the consequences
So you think Moyes & Kinnear would extend his contract based on the current political climate?

You think a Premier League club would make such a decision where millions of pounds are concerned based on something happening thousands of miles away?

Are you all there?

It’s smart giving him a new deal instead of letting him leave on a free. Hopefully can sell him in the summer still and make some money off him.

Obviously we aren't keeping him and didn't sign him because of the war or anything like that but I thought it was quite common knowledge that he was signed because Usmanov and Moshiri were very close friends with the Dynamo Kiev owner who recommended him

So Usmanov told Benitez to sign Mykolenko because a war that hasn't yet started, was about to start and it would be a good look for us if we maybe had a Ukrainian in the team.

Say that to yourself in the mirror and listen how mad it sounds.

Hi mate I think you missed out the part where I said I was wearing a tin foil hat.

Have a great evening.

Interesting its a new contract rather than taking up option to extend by a year.

Personally, sick to the back teeth of him. Id struggle to name teams he'd start for in the league. Hope we sign a couple of full backs so we dont see him starting and to have an actual right back.

Put a capable full back who can cross the half way line behind Grealish or Ndiaye down that side and they'd thank yoh for it.
I expected us to take up the option so that we could protect our "investment" when we wanted to sell him. But this is the usual more mediocre route, it seems.
