…don’t you know, he has a hamstring injury? Hopefully we find out a bit more in a few days, Lampard said afterwards that he’s an outstanding young player and we need him to be fit.

That’s probably fair. Remains to be seen whether the outlay on Patterson and Mykolenko was good business but fingers crossed. Both are young with time to develop.

I thought the lad was solid on Saturday, he looks a little better with each game he gets and I think, next season, he may well surprise a few people. For now he is solid enough if a bit raw! Needs to watch his positioning though, he does seem to drift inside and leave a lot of grass between himself and the touchline at times.

I really think with Myko at LB and Patterson at RB, add to them our CBs, Mina, Branthwaite, Godfrey, Keane and Holgate we could build a pretty solid back line.

Looked ok, as others have said he's short of match fitness, new country etc, I remember Marouane Fellainis debut and first few games and though wtf have we bought here!! give the lad time

This has seemed our game plan for a good few seasons now. Drifting inside to basically defend the box leaves us vunerable to teams playing the width of the pitch thus allowing more time for player to get to byline or close enough and enough time to swing the cross in. By the time our players reach them they have positioned well enough to create damage with the cross or pull back. Man City destroy us by playing full width. I don't know where this narrow defending has come from but it just may well be the defenders instinct to defend the box
