Villa Request Everton Postponement

Getting a bit daft now isn’t it. Think it would be best to at least suspend and maybe void the season. You can’t have games postponed left right and centre and you can’t have teams having to put out their kids because they’re trying to do the right thing. Somethings got to give.

I fear you are right. I said it at the time and stand by it. City's request over Christmas was a ridiculous precedent to set. They basically said we have a few (4players +1 staff) cases and we dont fancy that trip to goodison; the 14 players fit and available rule was not applied and the precedent is set; you watch now there will be plenty more utterly making completion of the season impossible

So Liverpool can get pretty much a bye in the cup vs Villa but we don't get to play them? Okay then m8
Bit of a joke isn’t it? Ducked out of playing Spurs and landed Fulham an extra game on 48 hours notice, meaning the league had to push both Fulham v Chelsea and our game out a day and now they don’t even want that

You don't name a 25 man squad for a league game either. You also don't register U23's.

Why would that stop them fielding a team this weekend? They can go one week without training at the training ground. They all had home personal regimes during the first lockdown.

Very inconsistent it seems. Celtic played last night missing 13 players who were self-isolating. Scottish FA seem to think it is ok to ask clubs to use their whole squads, not sure why the same doesn't apply here. And yes, I would still be saying the same if it was us in Villa's position - after all I presume all the players in our 25 man squad (and Villa's) plus most of the eligible scholars are paid professionals. You also never know who might grab their chance who otherwise wouldn't have had a look in.

The worst thing for us is it's not like the rest did us any good. We were AWFUL against West Ham with a weeks rest.

I don't think you get the benefit with such a late cancellation, you have done your light session the day before and need to still manage that load catch-up before normal.

Where the benefit was seen was City running the absolute legs of chelsea two days later. Any PL manager offered to postpone a fixture during the entire season would have picked that one; it was all a bit too convenient

There is almost a week until this tie. Surely they can isolate a rump of the senior squad who have tested negative and supplement it with yoof? Plenty of time to have another squad have 2-3 sessions in advance of Sunday. Not buying this. The club need to grow a pair and resist this.
