Usmanov

Would love it to be true Moshiri never struck me as anything more than the stalking horse/front man for somebody else. But knowing Everton it's utter nonsense

Usmanov spent it to 'free' up Moshiri, he gained no influence at Arsenal and a bigger 'liability' by doing so.

The ground will have to be signed off by a Labour council (easy enough) but also National government. The Tories hate Everton and the city of Liverpool, and also have an illogical hatred/fear of Russians and are increasingly attacking them in terms of foreign policy. It's the fact sort of show piece stand off they would relish, particularly when impressing the home counties tory voting LFC crowd and I could easily see them pulling the project down. For that reason keeping Usmanov well away from the deal until everything is signed off and agreed makes a lot of sense.

We've obviously had different well connected people saying he'd come and the date has changed and moved back, in part because I think the stadium has taken longer than anticipated.

Apparently Moshiri can't exercise the right for additional shares until this happens.

Apparently.

Thats what I find interesting really Dan. He buys most of the shares, but leaves an ambigious 50% available. They are said to be available once the stadium gets going. You have to start weighing up who would agree to such a deal, and under what circumstances. What sort of individual would be unable to get involved 2 years ago, probably wouldn't be most suitable to get a stadium deal rolling which will have public financial involvement but would then look to get on board later on. The's undoubtedly some conjecture on my part in the answer, but in many ways you are describing Usmanov when it is viewed through that axis.

There are complicating factors I agree. Selling Arsenal shares won't be straightforward. I also imagine Kenwright had a say in not selling up entirely, with the hope he'd be kept on. Whether Kenwright has been duped by Moshiri and given assurances that the current impasse we have could go on until Bill was unable to go on is up for debate. It wouldn't surprise me if Kenwright was given assurances which Moshiri may now row back on, there's every chance he's played people on both sides.

Likewise, Usmanov may not be able to sell, he may prefer being in the background (if he is) may have been put off by the shambles we currently are, or may just like having alleged involvement at 2 clubs. All remain a possibility. I sense he will want to come out of the shadows at some point though and the above scenario seems to indicate Usmanov.

Just my opinion, if I was putting that kind of money in I would want some sort of position on the board, especially with Kroenke being the main man there.

Last year Usmanov's fortune rose by 3 billion dollars in the one year mate

He knows similarly wealthy people, various investment groups put huge amount of money into % of companies without having influence in those companies, as long as they see them as a very stable and rising investment, Arsenal pretty much fits that model to a T

Just think how many people pay into pension funds - something they have no control over, and which takes a large slice of their available income every month for 40+ years

Hows that then? The Sec of State has said ages ago they have no issue with City councils making these decisions.

Hasn't Mayor Anderson said it would have to go through cabinet? I don't think there's any worries it will be held up, but Moshiri is a very clean cut face. Presuming Usmanov was in charge, and the leaks that show alleged links to the Kremlin came up, Kopites starting digging up dirt and causing protest (which they would, particularly those from outside of the area) I really would not rule anything out from the current government to try and score a few easy points. I suspect this would have been a risk factor in keeping Usmanov well away from the deal until it begins, there is a clear motive at least?

That's a very good point.

Only today this caught my eye. I don't think you have to dig too deep. Much better to keep Moshiri as the figure head.

Yes anyone who thinks if there was a choice between Usmanov and Moshiri to who was better suited at sorting a deal for public funding and that wouldn't be Moshiri has to sharpen up on their politics.

Got to go through LCC, but not Parliament or a London government dept. Newts notwithstanding. They, London, couldnt be less arsed. Others lobbing cash at Liverpool, not them. Whats not to like?
