Yeah, they mention that a 'Usmanov spokesperson' denies the reports but they don't give direct quotes from any spokesperson.:(

On the other hand, if true, it is interesting that any Charlton interest was denied yet no mention of denial of interest in Everton. ;)

Difference is legitimate business press with preexisting relations with Uzzy's press team and a reputation to uphold v the mirror ( think it was the mirror)

Usmanov buy Charlton, PMSL, That Darren Lewis is a proper bullshit peddler, one of the worst sports journo's there is.

And heads fall off everywhere in this thread...the shame of it.

But he issued a denial, saying: “Alisher Usmanov is not buying football club Charlton Athletic.”

. ;)

It's a tweet not an news article or a broadcast on their channel, you're very limited on twitter, its not a medium in which you can be expansive or give detail.

...neither

CNBC and Bloomsberg are the leading broadcasters on the markets and usually pick up on financial news far quicker than any mainstream organisation.

Usmanov and any likely large investment, is financial news and is far more likely to be reported by those who specialise in it. The Mirror and the Echo don't.

Tbf what anyone believes makes little difference to such a truth

More kopites in here than the RS thread. There's a real emotional investment in this, their end. I think that's actually reasonable given what Usmanov rocking up here would mean.

I've just twigged, this is the idiot who calls up and talks in Talk Sport with the latest inside info he has, total moron, Jason Cundy often makes fun of him, knows nothing until it's already happened but makes stuff up to sound relevant

The said article.

Usmanov spokesperson denies he'll be reinvesting his Arsenal windfall into another London soccer team

Alisher Usmanov will not be making any bid to buy southeast London soccer club Charlton Athletic, a spokesperson for the Russian businessman's press team told CNBC, contrary to reports in the British media Friday morning.

Last month Usmanov sold his 30 percent stake of English Premier League side Arsenal to majority shareholder Stan Kroenke, as announced to the London Stock Exchange.

That transaction has now been completed, but despite speculation he will reinvest in another soccer club, it won't be Charlton, who play in the third tier of the English leagues.

Charlton has not played in the Premier League since 2007 and has faced serious financial problems in recent seasons. It is currently owned by Belgian millionaire Roland Duchatelet, who is said have put the club up for sale for around £20 million ($26 million).
Usmanov has reportedly received over $500 million for his Arsenal shares, but despite tabloid speculation he'll be putting his money elsewhere in English soccer, he isn't going to make any offer for Charlton.

May be the hold up has been because the Arsenal shares had not been completed officially until now. May be we will see movement. If he is coming here of course, which as much as I would love, still not sure. But it's more likely than not I think.
