Usmanov

The announcement of stadium funding following planning permission appears to be the one remaining last hope that Usmanov wishes to significantly invest in EFC.

Ideally, the deposit (if you like) should come from Moshiri and Usmanov's personal cash, as there is no restriction on infrastructure investment in FFP. The rest of the money is going to be borrowed from external sources (not Usmanov or Moshiri). This is quite obvious, it's been mentioned many times, they even asked for a loan from the council, and there was a report about us potentially offering it to private investors in the US (almost like a crowdfunding option for poncey investors)

We then hope that the sponsorship money is mega, we stop cacking ourselves about FFP, and use the sponsorship money to actually progress beyond our mid-table status of the last 30 years!

If the stadium funding and sponsorship announcements end up being as underwhelming as the Car Zoo sponsorship, then I personally think we should stop with the obstacle course of excuses that are required to maintain the fantasy that Usmanov wishes to significantly invest in EFC.

Amen to this.

Once these are out of the way we should take a look at where this club is going and who is in charge of it.

Usmanov is his mate and he’s done him a favour with USM sponsorship yes as any of you would do for your mate.

He’s said is Moshiri asks he will get involved but Moshiri wants to do this alone at the moment.

Usmanov is a pipe dream and it should be left there until he buys shares.

Our fans hanging onto any little hope they can even it’s 30 steps removed we are the worst for it.

We have to accept that our current shareholding setup is the way it’s going to be until the stadium is built.

With you on that. Folk should forget all the Usmanov dreams for now.

Not sure thats right about asking the council for a loan.
The loan was offered by Joe Anderson as the council could borrow at a reduced interest so as it was paid back the council would profit from it.
Anderson later stated the club were going another route for the finance.

It’s not all being done under hand though mate is it?

That’s my point it’s clear as day we signed a deal with USM that’s it. Not under the table.

If we had gone with NEC for example as a sponsor we could argue that Usmanov is afoot but we signed a sponsorship deal with a second hand car company.

Wake up and stop holding onto the notion Usmanov is funnelling money in he’s not.

It’s distracting us from the real issues.

which are?

The club and the council had meetings. It was established that Everton would be borrowing money to pay for the stadium. Someone, whether it was Moshiri or Anderson suggested the council could lend Everton the money.

The point is that Everton will be borrowing to build the stadium, and they were interested in lending from the council. I believe they would have pursued the council loan had it not been for all the crying from the kopites. As it is, we will will be looking for alternative loan providers.

I think it is far from being a pipe dream, but at the moment there is nothing to suggest that Usmanov will formally become an owner of the club.

We know that Usmanov has committed 12m per annum to sponsor Finch Farm.
We know he has committed 30m for first option on naming rights.
We can expect the naming rights proper to amount over time to about 100m.

It seems like an awful lot of money, just to give a friend a dig out.

If Usmanov is involved I just wish it would get confirmed at some point. I feel like I live in hope of him being involved instead of just lurking in the background and every so often something happens that connects us to him.

I hated the rumours of him wanting to buy Charlton/West Ham/AC Milan and Sevilla. I really hope that he did interview Carlo and convince him that there's a large project ahead.

Carlo is the big clue in all this. I cannot see him opting to come to Everton without some assurances that he has a fair chance at achieving success. He surely must have been promised something was going to change. That is the "hope".

Hope you’re right, but not necessarily true. He could’ve been convinced by Moshiri alone. He’s pummelled money into the club consistently since he arrived, nothing to suggest he wouldn’t keep doing it. Usmanov involved or not, the only thing stopping us from spending is FFP.

Lukaku was also promised something....
