Us and luck

Specifically on broken legs.

In recent memory there’s been Bryan Oviedo, James McCarthy, Seamus Coleman and now Andre Gomes.

Relatively recently before that there was Ross Barkley and Victor Anichebe.

Even Neville Southall had a freak leg break.

We do seem to suffer this more than most.
We're always being given (patronised?) the 'Chinatown' excuse, we get told, what can you do - 'these things balance out eventually'.
Well of course they do, its your basic ying and yang innit.
But the Louis Wu Corollary tells us 'there ain't no justice'.
So there is nothing to say that all though the scales may balance, (they cannot do otherwise). No where does it say they have to balance out fairly.

Just that they balance

All the other 18 teams (and beyond) get good and bad in varying amounts, mostly, but not entirely, dependand on how rich they are and theirs balances out...again how could it not.
If somebody (glances over stanley park) gets all the luck going in one big 'koff lump over 50yrs...remember all the others are getting theirs in little dribs and drabs and things have to balance...The somebody must get a big 'koff lump of bad luck over the same 50yrs

Everton F.C.
The scales, as they should, then balance.

QED.

further reading: luck, teela brown...I'll save you the bother.
We all know luck people, we all know of unlucky people...usually us.
Luck, or so the story/theory goes, is a thing, a human attribute like speed or strength and like race horses you can selectively breed for it.
Fast forward; Teela Brown is lucky. In a city of 1million she finds her car keys first time everytime.
When there's just the two of you left, you are the one that gets the piano on the head.
Luck - its a thing.

Just waiting for somebody to blame Bill Kenwright
I blame Kenwright.

Ever since he’s been involved our luck has been abysmal.

The guy must have run over so many black cats.

Just had to be Bully didn't it?

It seems like almost one major bad injury every 1-2 seasons. That has to be some kind of record.

Also add in ruptured Achilles for the yak
Ruptured knee for mikel
Torn ligament for jags
And let’s not forget wright falling out of the loft and also that warm up against Chelsea lol
Duffy nearly dying with a ruptured spleen
Vaughan severing and artery
Coleman nearly losing his foot because of a blister
Hibbos weird disease

Add Bracewell, Heath, Mountfield and Southall to that list - plus the poor sod we signed on loan a couple of years ago who lasted just long enough to score on his debut.
Also didn't Shane Duffy lose something like three litres of blood after puncturing his liver in a training match? When you think back over all the injuries, its unbelievable to think this all has happened to the one club.

The legend that is Joe Parkinson. Still don't know what exactly happened to his knee in 96-97 but was injured most of the season then out all of the next. Ultimately retired early at 28. He was our new Bracewell and an absolute legend that I'll always wish I saw more of in blue.

Does shandy andy also qualify for this list? I mean - because his muscles were too strong for his bones - as he put it.
