upcoming films

Hopefully this is a positive case of a trailer being totally misleading about the quality of a film. Conspicous absence of lens flare tho, so that's a plus.

As a big fan of TOS and its films, I hated the 2009 reboot even though everyone else seemed to love it.. because it just became an action/adventure set in space.. it lost it's quintessential "trekkieness". Instead now we have big set pieces and phaser fights at warp speed. It's Tragic.

Have to admit, I was one of those who loved the reboot, but I can understand while a lot of original fans wouldn't. It defo is less Sci-Fi and more Action Adventure (set in space), but I didn't mind that, and really liked the new cast etc. Interested to see how this new one goes. Not too sure on the director (don't really know much about him, except a F&F credit), and it certainly looks different to the last two from the trailer. Hope it's good tho, and will prob see it when it comes out.

Seen the new trailer for Batman vs Superman before Star wars today....FFS, not sure why I even need to bother watching the movie now, the trailer pretty much told you the entire plot....

And to be honest, it looks like another special effects clusterf#*k of a movie (sad after how good the Nolan movies were)...

I'm half and half. I liked it. And then there was the cheesy line when Wonder Woman turned up and i fumed a bit.

Yeah the wonder woman thing was weird....firstly why reveal it, and why reveal Barman & Superman become mates (even if it was obvious....name of the movie is stupid to begin with).....
Yer man playing lex Luther reminded me of Jim Carey playing the riddler....and the giant alien monster thingy puts me right off wanting to see it....

Also is it Barman or Iron man Ben Affleck is supposed to be?....

Also Ben Affleck....

What did you hate about it? I don't get it, fab films.

Jeez, let me see:

- The fictional early antagonism between Kirk & Spock - totally disrespects everything we know about these 2 characters
- The set pieces used to drive the plot. Kirk stranded on an alien planet, gets chased by a monster and falls into a cave where... surprise surprise, Old Spock just happens to have fallen into. "Of all the caves in all the planets in the the universe, he has to fall into mine..."
- The overplaying of the Kobayasi Maru. In Trek 2 it's merely hinted at a couple of times in the movie as an allude to how Kirk's mind works. In Reboot they base whole scenes on it. Talk about flogging a horse to death. There is no subtlety in the storytelling.
- Into Darkness.. how Enterprise gets shot down from max warp speed... and just about manages to fall into Earth's atmosphere. Really? That's like me shooting down a jet fighter and it landing in my swimming pool.
- Spock turns into an action figure chasing down Khan. Really? With skills like that he should have joined the military branch, not the scientific branch.
- Phaser shootout with the Klingons. Why? It just paints the klingons as mindless thugs. No, we must have an excuse for a big lser fight in space, because that's the lowest common denominator for the sci-fi adventure movie now. A better way to handle a sense of threat would be the have Kirk shake hands with Klingon commander and then boot him in the nuts.

I could go on and on.

Yep, all in all, hated it. Abrahams is a charlatan of the highest degree.
