Yields are down aots because of climate weirding, and were prior to the Russian invasion. Fertilisers were also an ongoing issue last year. Russia have certainly added to the issues (possibly intentionally), but they were evident long before troop buildup.Think it would be fair to assume if EU politicians can take a train journey for photo ops in Kiev grain is fairly safe being transported. I'm not up on EU farming subsidies but I'd be fairly confident between them, the US and Canada any shortfall from the percentage the Ukraine supply yearly could be met,so averting the predicted worldwide famine. Still think food prices will keep rising, but that's the free market for you.
Can't blame Zelenskyy for trying to make political capital out of it,but in the long-term it just makes his statements less credible.Yields are down aots because of climate weirding, and were prior to the Russian invasion. Australia, US, Canada, China, South America's, India and Europe all have falling yields in key areas.
I'm not paying loads of attention to this, but there's certainly some element of showmanship in the Z.Can't blame Zelenskyy for trying to make political capital out of it,but in the long-term it just makes his statements less credible.
Z? you mean?I'm not paying loads of attention to this, but there's certainly some element of showmanship in the Z.
It's our politicians too, who are more than eager to lump whatever they can onto the 'blame Russia' pile.
I get the point of future credibility, but on the flip side I appreciate and Zelenskyy and his government's objective of maintaining support for them vs. Russia.I'm not paying loads of attention to this, but there's certainly some element of showmanship in the Z.

No mate, sorry, Zelensky
Well, there is that mate, true, however there's a certain element of running away from the true causes/domestic/global issues too, and in doing this, nothing will be resolved.I get the point of future credibility, but on the flip side I appreciate and Zelenskyy and his government's objective of maintaining support for them vs. Russia.
He (well, the country actually) is reliant on the Ukrainian people maintaining the will to fight and the support of those abroad in supplying them to be able to do so.
Rightly or wrongly, propaganda is an integral part of this. Look at how Beaverbrook in the early years of WWII spun messages to aid the overall war effort.
They're fighting in the hear and now, ultimately.
I think the figures reflect how this phase of the war is playing out.Casualties of the Russo-Ukrainian War - Wikipedia

2022 section.
10k Ukrainian military killed. 4k Russian military killed. 2.5k from Donetsk and Lughansk's pro Russian forces. 9.5k other allied to Russia. Am I reading that right?
Does that mean Russia is losing 1 man to Ukraine's 2.5 men? All the others are not regulars and not going to impact back home?
Add into that the civilian fatalities, one of the 2 countries will surely fall over soon.
