The cynic in me reckons if Trump gets involved then there will be no NATO for Ukraine. Likewise I suspect as part of the deal Zelensky will be asked to call elections and there could well be a “puppet government” of a different sort installed….

Another caveat is how will Trump react if Putin rebuffs the deal that The Donald puts forward.

The world know what Trump is like when he can't get his own way.

This notion that Trump is going cut a favourable deal for Putin isn't necessarily cut an dry especially if Putin makes Trump look foolish during negotiations.

The next question I suppose is, have they got the resources to even manage any new territory?

I can't remember the ratio of soldier to population to maintain order but it is going to be very expensive for Russia to successfully maintain any new territory they gain.

As has been discussed on here previously when you consider that Ukraine has 1,260,000 active battle hardened personnel and 2,500,000 miltary trained reserve personnel, if even a fraction decided to continue the struggle through armed insurgency it would have the potential to make the IRA look like the Vienna Boys Choir. There is no way for Putin/Russia to win this, it'll end as Afghanistan or Vietnam did.

Surely its not just an elusion?

The numbers may have been fluffed up but there has been a lot of intel from numerous countries suggesting NKs are involved on the ground.

Looks like an emergency meeting has been called by NATO next week with Ukraine.

Think it was just the pretext to reverse the decision on allowing strikes with the ATACMs/SSs etc inside pre 2022 Russian territory tbh.

But like Russia was stating there was 20k polish sheep dipped military back in late 22.

Doesn't overly matter IF they're there as long as you sell it initially as true then justify an action based on that, barn doors already closed after the horse by the time it comes out as bs.
