What does a win for Russia look like here? Let's say even if they do manage to get the upper hand in the war and install a puppet government, he hasn't really won hearts and minds has he? Eventually like they (& us) found in Afghanistan that you cannot keep a country of that size down if it doesn't want to be.

Unless you are prepared to spend unimaginable amounts of money to keep suppressing it would have all been for zip. However the main takeaways here are Russia is a paper tiger and they've severely damaged their armed forces and economy. That's straight out of the good times Bill playbook.

Fair play, appreciate your honesty - I find it hard to comprehend that there's people (and indeed Evertonians) who are happy to associate themselves with fascism. But different strokes for different folks I guess. You do you.

I have said before Russia hasn't even used much of army or its technology.

They dont need to.

Russia had way more connections in Crimea to make it work. In hindsight Ukraine are probably upset they didn't punch the bully in the face back then.

Anyway let's see if they still have Crimea at the end of this. I personally would be happy enough if Ukraine traded it for the rest of the occupied lands and a ceasefire but Ukraine might not see it that way and it's very hard to defend an enclave.

Do yourself and all of us a favour and read the Amnesty international and UN reports on atrocities committed in Eastern Ukraine prior to 2014.

Both sides were at it, with Russia stoking the fire with personnel, arms and ammunition. Just spare us the sound bites and Rus propaganda.

Your problem of course is that Putin is finished. The myth of Russian tanks rolling over Europe and NATO is no more than a joke now, Ukraine will kick Russia out of its country, China may even take a bite out of the East. Meanwhile the self generated myth of military power is disappearing by the day, political power around the world will turn to laughter as everyone sees what a complete arse Russia is making of its SMO. It’s tanks are now just mobile coffins, it’s airforce seems to have forgotten how to fly and it’s Navy is now hiding, hell it couldn’t even hold onto Snake Island. The Chinese have them over a financial barrel and will treat them like the third rate power they have suddenly become and its exports of junk military equipment and even oil and gas has prices dropping like a stone. The Elite will understand this, they are losing money, they can’t holiday in the nice places in Europe, sanctions may continue way after Ukraine wins the war. They are screwed…thank you Mr Putin…..

Over 95% of Russias “army” is currently deployed in Ukraine. They rely on mobiks and PMC’s to fight their war.
