So China and the Balkans are heating up now. Worrying times.

I thought that the was a lit of truth behind NATO being willing to back the conflict until the last Ukrainian. Now I am wondering if China was willing to back the conflict until the last Russian.

And people think this is a surprise? As part of receiving the HIMRAS, there'll have been some discussions regarding what Ukraine would be able to target.

It will be interesting to see how far these discussions have progressed - e.g. are they continuing to ask or are the US actually suggesting targets.

The US is sharing intel with Ukraine and has been since February. I think it would be naive to think that the intel would not include targets of interest.

I think the intel package would be strategic rather than real-time targeting data.

I can’t see the US providing GPS co-ords for HIMARS strikes. The Ukes are quite capable of doing this themselves with their drone capability.

I get that, but there's a subtle difference between:

' Here's some intelligence to help formulate your target acquisition. We approve of you hitting this, but don't use it against x, y and z' and... 'Hit this target.'

Let's be honest, it'll probably be a bit of both, but where the balance lies will be interesting to see.

I would envisage the US providing them with a filtered daily brief that highlights troop movements and concentrations. EW activity, fixed and rotary wing ops etc…What Ukraine does with that intel is up to them.

Seems weird to read that in foreign news, but as a Croat, i can say there is nothing big going on here, nor is getting much attention (here). Reading Serbian news and comments sections, its just usual political shenanigans that going on from time to time between them and Kosovo, mostly for internal consumption.

Also they are surrounded by EU and Nato countries, what are they gonna do? They support Russia, yes, (remember how WW1 started), but political situation is completely different now, so no real danger of shooting Archdukes and similar stuff anymore.

Dependent on presentation. Preferably roasted or fried at a push daphanisoise bit foreign like but I'm adventurous. Not new or mash they should be sent Rwanda or similar.
Yesterday I bought 'early new potatoes' from Lidl, in August. What are they called in April, early foetus potatoes ?

I mean Russians done the same in Vietnam and Korean wars, and more. Korean and Vietnam MIGs were in a lot of cases piloted by Soviet "volunteers", not to mention tons of equipment and info they supplied and provided. In a lot of ways its a classic proxy war

The term often used was 'foreign military advisers'. Likewise, during the Falklands the Argentinians were provided with some very limited intelligence.

The only reason they didn't provide more was because Argentina had ties with the US, so they knew it'd get back alongside the capabilities of the Soviet intel.

I mentioned early on in this thread that there a few UK volunteers had joined the Ukrainian forces, and said volunteers had very recently handed their papers in.

They're all involved - the question is to what extent.

Argentina was ruled by right wing military dictatorship, and like all right wing dictatorships in South America (like Pinochet in Chile), they were supported by CIA. USA had a lot of links with Argentina and they actively tried to stop the war, but they were forced to choose the side after the start.

So yeah, Soviets didn't had much ideological ties with Argentina, beside more pragmatic "enemy of my enemy is my friend". I think biggest danger for you were French provided Exocet anti-ship missiles, you lost few warships if i recall correctly.

This is a great thread giving an overview of the Ukrainian strategy in this war:

So what am I meant to have with my pie and gravy? Or with my lovely fish?
Pie and chips... I'm not even entertaining fried battered fish and chips.

Not crazy about mash.

Unless it's with sausages or made with an unnecessarily huge amount of butter and cream to bolster it.
It's passable with sweet potato mash, half and half.
