Pretty sure they tried to deselect Ian Byrne as he was part of the Socialist caucus in the Labour Party.
…..not sure the ‘Left Wing’ is being purged, as far as I can see Angela Raynor sits in that camp and I dare say there’s plenty more including my own MP, Ian Byrne.
He can't get rid of Rayner as she was placed as Deputy by the members. I've had this discussion many times that he'd get rid of her if he could.
As for Byrne, my MP also, he tried to get [Poor language removed] of him.
There's a definite purge going on. The strange thing is the media aren't reporting it how they should. Yet the same media wouldn't shut up about Corbyn performing a non existent Stalinist style purge when he was in charge.
Why didn't he just join the Tory party?….yep, it would be good if he can also shift Raynor in the next 5 years.

The purge has been going on for a lot longer than a few days. The left have been getting expelled from the party for years for as little as talking to Socialist publications.
That headline about "Tony Blair's reinvented Labour Party" is way wide of the mark.
Yeah my point wasn’t about personal agreement with those articles. Just that “the purge” is being extensively covered. That headline about "Tony Blair's reinvented Labour Party" is way wide of the mark.
Starmer's 'Labour' Party is nowhere near as social democratic as Blair's Government's.
The Blairites were many things but they weren't completely hand in glove with privatisation and a headlong rush into the arms of British corporate influence; and even though they weren't radicals they certainly weren't obsessed with expelling the left of all shades from the party. They may have been anti-Militant, but opposition to a Trotskyist group was about as far as it went ideologically, despite what the likes of Mandelson was whispering in his ear.
Starmer has changed at least the parliamentary Labour Party and the bureaucracy who run the organisation into a centre-right wing party that it will now remain as.
This is why a new party is required.
