2025/26 Tyrique George

There’s an interesting bit in the Athletic on George , obviously can’t post it but here’s a snippet . It starts with Tarks giving him a pointed “ your man” look for failing to track their player who’s shot led to the 2nd goal. It’s defenders and other players who expect it not just managers :
“ Moments like these can count against George and other young players who are just starting out. For risk-averse managers, they can be seen as evidence of the perils of inexperience. This was not a major error by any means, but it looked like it would cost Everton dearly.”

Apparently we have an option to buy at about £25mill
Tarkowski has some cheek after watching Schade glide past him for their penalty.

Wonder what way the option works…does the player and club have to agree or just the club whether they exercise the option.
The player must only have a short term contract atm as part of the loan, so surely he would have to agree or even actually want it as much as we might want him.

I’ve no idea to be honest, I can’t of the top of my head think of a player on loan with an option, who turned down the move if the club exercised the option. Maybe that wouldn’t be public.

On the other side of it, part of me thinks if an option is there and agreed to - surely it’s a hares breath away from a permanent move, future salary, role, future progression surely must be discussed at the initial loan stage and future contract agreed when the loan is signed with the option clause.

So in summary, I haven’t a clue.

Moyes has admitted he likes him a lot which is telling since he doesn't say nice things about a young player in the media very often. He hasn't said anything about Dibling for example, never did about Rodwell or Barkley either if memory serves. He seems to believe praise goes to their heads.

I think we'll sign him permanently since £22m isn't a lot for a young forward player anymore, especially an English one. If we miss out on Europe it'll be Dibling who leaves, weirdly.

I thought DM was geniune in his praise and may actually play him as a starter because Tyreek is going to have lots of admirers this summer. Show him the Love, Dave. Jack can find another place to play slowcoach footie.

Anyone listen to the Byline this morning Paddy Boyland suggested he had a bit to do in the last 6 games to convince the club to exercise the option. Clause apparently closer to £25 mill then £20 mill.

He hasn’t done anything close to it. A few step overs, £25m to help Chelsea dodge their FFP crimes - I think not.

“Convince me we should sign you on a perm.”

“Ok. Can I have more than 10 minutes every other week to do that?”

“No.”

From a financial pov, wherever it sits in the 20-25 million range it's a good deal considering how much we paid for Dibling, and which one looks more PL ready.

Think also his ability to play up front and essentially become our third choice striker as well as competing for a spot on the wing is a major plus.

To someone like Moyes flexibility is a very attractive attribute.

I doubt we'll see much more between now and the end of the season than 15/20 min cameos but I think there's enough there to warrant making it permanent, especially if we end up in Europe.
