2025/26 Tyrique George

Why doesn't it? Excuse me if I'm being a bit dim
Because on the previous logic, if we have an agreement with Chelsea and are obliged to buy George. We can ultimately not force him to sign an employment contract if he doesn't want to. Therefore it would make no difference if we had an option or obligation if we are saying it depends on George's feelings. IMO we have already done the convincing to get him to come on loan here for the 2nd half of the season and he would be aware of the option to buy in the deal. If he becomes good, then I think it is an easy deal and personal terms will be no issue.

That may be true - but on that logic it makes no difference if it was an option or obligation to buy.
The option or obligation is on the club. Just gives us more power in getting first refusal to offer him a contract if we wanted and I’m assuming stops Chelsea accepting other offers until after a certain deadline.

Apparently with obligations, the player contract can be agreed at point of loan (according to googleai) meaning it’s effectively a purchase and it’s that point the player has agreed to the permanent move.

Get ya. But, if we had an obligation, then if he didn't wanna play or was unhappy, then maybe he'd express this behind close doors and look for a loan? Then come the next window, we'd sell. But I fully understand and agree with you

We literally don't know exactly what happens behind closed doors

Thought it was a solid cameo today. I rate Grealish. I really do. But I like what George offers more on left wing. George is moving, passing, he’s not slowing down the game to a halt. He’s looking to assist, but not primarily that like Grealish. He’s also looking to score. I’m sorry that Jack is hurt. But that also creates a massive opportunity for George to challenge for the spot. Make it hard for Moyes to instantly start Grealish the first second he can. I think Grealish should be an option, not the only option.
