Who on earth cares about that?
Considering the profligacy of the last 7 years, resulting in points deductions and probably more importantly, needing to flog our best players to the likes of spurs and villa to remain financially compliant, while keeping hold of all the over priced dross to the end of their contracts, most sensible Evertonian’s would have an interest I’d imagine.

If we’re paying a significant fee for a player who simply isn’t getting on before ONeil and Skiliman I’d certainly be interested how much it’s cost.

I’m probably being overly pessimistic but the ‘financially advantageous if we take up the option’ bit sounds suspiciously like spin for a significant upfront loan fee to me……
It’s more likely a smaller fee if the option is taken up, and a larger sell on clause for Chelsea. At least that’s how I read that.

So actually Beto proved himself as a not absolutely awful bench option in the past month. Clearly he cannot go anywhere unless somebody comes in. And it doesn’t look like we’re interested in any strikers. Would be highly disappointing to be left with Mykolenko starting every game he’s fit until the end of the season. I think we going down the we’ll-mostly-go-with-what-we’ve-got-and-see-if-we-can-somehow-fluke-a-European-spot-with-a-tiny-squad-with-very-little-backup route.

Would point to European football being a step too far for us.

Actually, if we do make Europe, I expect another 100M plus to be spent in the Summer.

We have tied most of our younger, big names to long term contracts, so a relatively strong base is in place.

We make Europe, Grealish is bought, George is bought outright, Illy long term contract and then we go and buy.

One game at a time though.

Problem with that is that 100m means we get 2 to 4 players, which would be great, but we need a backup everything, first choice rb, first choice lb (Aznou's not playing there), which will run up quite a bit of money that we don't have the freedom to spend.

So Grealish is bought (rumoured 50m), George is bought (rumoured 20m) and that leaves us without a lot of money to spend and in dire need of at least 2 starter level players, before we even consider backups for anywhere.

Agree; but if we get our RB, LB and Striker, the remainder can be loans.

That's my opinion though.

The money men might be thinking differently.

Grealish won’t be bought for 50, 20 is standard for a highly rated winger from Chelsea

We need 2 starting full backs and a striker minimum. Back up CBs after Keane leaves, a winger if Ndiaye goes for big money. Pretty doable for 100M.

We don't seem to be able to get those loans, I think they haven't reached our transfer department. That or do actual scouting.

Moyes doesn't do early business and he won't like 90% of the players again and we'll gasp at everyone around us buying first team players for 10-2mm or so while we recite the usual "there's just no deals to be had" mantra.

I agree though, there should be a way to spend and invest smartly/better. Ideally we can try to offload some players too - i.e. get a proper LB and RB, sell Myko and Patterson to whoever come knocking first; negotiate the Grealish deal as he's injured and all that, try to find loans for backups (like this George fella really), stuff like that, but I have no confidence for that personally.
