2025/26 Tyler Dibling

The longer this goes on the more pressure will be on the lad to do well should he ever get a run of ganes.

Maybe he isn’t impressing in training or he’s not getting on with the manager or a mixture of the two who knows.

His transfer fee isnt that substantial in the grand scheme of things but to us and given where we have been it is substantial and to progress you need to be smart with the money you have.

Questions need to be asked as to why he isnt getting a run of games when that money could of been spent elsewhere.

There is always an issue or excuse with us isnt there.

Hopefully over the next few weeks we see more of him.

Or we are buying potential. If we didnt sign him, there would be plenty in 2 or 3 years when he is ripping it up for Brighton saying ‘why don’t we ever go for players like that’. It’s perfectly fine to play the long game.
We cannot afford the luxury of "buying potential" when we haven't the ability to put out a competent full XI in the here and now. Signing Dibling only made sense if he was coming in now. Anything else is self-indulgence and a dereliction of duty. You cannot buy for the future when you do not have a present.

For what it's worth, this signing above all tells me that there is a massive disconnect between the manager and the "competent professionals". This was never a Moyes signing. Not in a million years.

Or you might be 19 years old and playing against the best team in the league?

Honestly people wetting the bed about this is bizarre

Not when as it stands he’s also behind McNeil who Moyes has barely given any minutes to.

Thats the concern for me…

He might be 19, but he played 30 odd games last season in the premier league, so I don’t buy the excuse that it’s an age thing.

Surely buying potential is the only way we can compete long term?

Wouldnt you say McNeil was a bit more experienced than Dibling though?

Absolutely yes I would.

But I just don’t feel strongly enough that should ever be the reason someone else starts ahead of a very talented, exciting player that we’ve invested so heavily in. Especially in a position where you can ‘risk’ younger players, it’s like we are starting a 19 year old GK of CB for example…

I’m also agitated with generally how Moyes treats younger players. He’s playing a very risky game. Young players, especially ones that are rumoured to be very quiet/shy as Dibling, must feel soul destroyed.

It is - but only if you already have enough players for the here and now. We have a centre-half playing as full back, a 35-year-old in midfield, and another 37-year-old in reserve. "Potential" should never have been a priority last summer when we had, what, 11 players in contract? Madness.

And pretty confidently not getting relegated. If by next season Dibling and Aznou are both meaningful contributors, after we’ve finished anywhere from 15-7th this season, then I’d imagine we are in a better position than what we’d be if we’d spent the money on more proven talent

But we spent 40m on Dibling. Not 9m, like Aznou. We got proven talent like KDH for far cheaper than we paid for Tyler...

Hopefully that's changed..too much BK PTSD in that comment.
