2025/26 Tyler Dibling

He hardly got a decent ball. O'Brien just can’t find a pass. There’s a good player in Dibling but needs a better right back behind him and midfielders who play the ball to him early. Far too much conservative slow passing in the first half with midfielders hesitating and playing balls to fullbacks rather than trying to pick out the wingers first time.

….he was ‘put in’ behind the full back once in the first half, I’m not sure who gave him the lovely weighted pass but he had a free run into the box but was wasteful putting the cross straight at the keeper.

We all want him to be terrific but sometimes we look for excuses. If he’s going to be worth £100m at the end of next season I’d like to be seeing a few signs of outstanding quality. He looks terrific in possession of a football, just want to see more threat.

There was also no link from midfield to attack (until Alcaraz came on) and balls were being aimlessly pumped towards Barry and Grealish from Pickford and the defence all first half. I doubt a prime Giggs would have looked any better.

Once in 45 minutes… Wow, we really gave him a platform to shine.

Not buying this personally.

Basically asking everyone else to make him look better.

Hes a kid we've paid £40mill for who's clearly scared and plays within himself rather than blaming other players around him.

The signing is looking exactly how id thought it would. We should be starting McNeil IMO over him until he gets more experience with sub appearances.

….to me, he looks more of a Grealish type who stands his full-back up as opposed to a ‘flyer’ looking to exploit space behind.

The reality is, he’s been disappointing. Very comfortable on the ball but no instances of him getting beyond his marker and providing threat. We had a break yesterday and he had the opportunity to play Grealish in space on the opposite flank but he went central before eventually going to Grealish.

If he’s a £100m in the making, I want to see him making things happen. Hopefully his time will come but he doesn’t look ready at the moment. I actually wonder if he’ll be more effective in central areas.

He has something - Moyes must think it to pay that money, and this;

Obvious patience required. Not sure he's the profile of what we needed now - pace/ability to stretch play, but maybe they've thought now or never with him if he had a good season in the Championship.

Early thoughts;

Feels like he has a touch of Birkdale over Kirkdale, lacks some aggression. Could be entirely my own perception/stereotype - felt passive, just I expected a little more intensity on his full home debut.

Liked how he looked for the ball, fans won't like how he doesn't seem to press.

Yet there are numerous instances of him doing this in a Southampton and England youth team shirt (He even did it at Goodison for Southampton). So why, in your opinion, can’t he do it in an Everton shirt? You do realise the tactics and mindset employed in the first and second halves were completely different yesterday?

I don't understand why we paid so much. For the fee surely to an extent he should be making an almost immediate impact.

He’s started one match …

Felliani was our record signing and looked like he’d never been on a football pitch in his first few games and then turned into one of our most important players …

Garner didn’t exactly set the world alight at first and is now playing well

Players need time … especially teenagers

Made up that he is struggling....so you can be proved right.

Jesus H Christ!!!

I’m going to be a bit more optimistic on Dibling. Yesterday wasn’t great but I’m trying to remember any time we got the ball to him in an attacking position.

Felt like every time he got a touch, it was in our own half under pressure from their wingers after a clearance. The one time he got it further up, he had a good touch, good run and then a poor low cross that the keeper collected. But the move was good to skin his man.

Unlike Barry, Dibling has shown some good fundamentals, his first touch is there and desire to run is. If we’re patient in getting him into those positions, I’m sure he’ll flourish.

He looks a little overwhelmed at the moment, needs to be a bit more aggressive. But unlike others, I do think he’ll develop into a player, be it on the right or centrally.

Very much like Grealish, he is going to appreciate a fast full back behind him. Our full backs are really limiting us on both flanks.
