2025/26 Tyler Dibling

Hope this wrong, but was chatting with a good friend, heavily involved in the game, and he,s amazed we paid so much for him. Said hes a nice lad, but even with the U21s he doesnt stand out and tends to run down blind alleys. Reckons his confidence is shoot to pieces and we are looking to loan him out in January.
Again i hope this is wrong and the lad comes good, but this could be another incredible waste of money by Everton
Funny that because he stood out in the hardest league in the world in his first ever season playing senior football aged 18. He's probably sound thanks.

This is what I don’t get about the doubts in this thread, he player most of last season and very well, he impressed last season any time I saw him.

There is loads of content you can go back and watch, if you didn’t catch him, at 19 he’s exceptional. I’d also highlight his strengths and physicality, quite rare at that age.

When it comes too doubts/question marks over our players ( over than the genuine fans that just want to see a lad play, and the more time it doesn't happen, questions arise.
Which is pretty normal.

Over the time ive been on here, you start to see a rise in the importance of "Being Right" to a forever growing number of posters. To the point that its more important for them to be 'right' than it is to be 'wrong', even if it benefits the club..

Only a small fraction of players really go on to make it, so your odds on picking players to question/doubt are far far more higher than it ever would be to back a player..

I know i'm waffling on, but this is the world now, and being able to say "I Was Right" holds more value to some people, than just being happy for a player.

The one i never understand mate is the presumption things are going wrong because players haven't been in the team or fans don't see them play, you could say the same thing about Rohl, Aznou and Barry at different points to an extent this season also, each ive seen written off at different stages. Just because fans dont get the run rule over them and make a judgement just yet, doesn't mean these players arent going to be absolute gems.

Perception is also important - on one hand people say a waste of £40 mill and should be in the team at times, on the other hand hes two months older then Harrison Armstrong, who would be far from guaranteed first team mins here and and has been loaned out out to Preston for experience - the tolerances are very different. Both are the same age with similar experience. Yet viewed very differently.

When you actually look at a core at 19 on our books we have - Armstrong, Dibling and Aznou.

I dont see the panic.

I love a post that starts with "hope this is wrong" which loosely translates to don't bother reading,it's all complete Bumgas.

You’re right there mate!

;)

AFCON kicks off just before Christmas 21st December Senegal first game 2 days later on 23rd, and Dibbling who is not getting a sniff as late substitute needs to up to spead for first team action before Christmas to replace Ndiaye, or else it Dwight McRolnaldo. Panic worthy stuff.

I’ll be surprised if it’s not McNeill that comes in some variation to be honest mate. Also won’t be surprised if he’s sold a few weeks later.

Tyler will get mins though for sure, maybe even a start if he does well.

Great to have a bit of depth to be fair.

Moyes is always tentative integrating young players. Let's be honest, O'Brien wouldn't have got half as much game time if we had an actual right back. Dibling will get his chance, but it's really annoying, especially when he's already shown what he can do at this level.

I'm concerned about Moyes handling of him (and all young players) being too conservative. I'm not concerned about whether or not Dibling is actually a good player though. He's a project but the talent is undeniable.

We finally have a good few exciting young players on our books and people are so unused to it they're baffled when they aren't making immediate impacts. Its just not how it works. There's a bit of a sliding scale of 'readiness' too:

Röhl: has played multiple seasons in a top league for a decent team
Barry: has played a full season in a top league for a good team
Dibling: has played a full season in a top league for a dreadful team
Aznou: has played half a season in a top league for a perhaps even more dreadful team
Armstrong: has played over a full season in the championship for teams of varying quality

Aznou and Armstrong are probably at about the same point on the scale, Armstrong possibly even higher because of the higher risk of Aznous position.

On top of this, players don't develop at the same rate, players will have had different quality in their coaching, etc etc. It's fine and I'm looking forward to watching them all play for Everton. Though again I do wish Moyes was a bit more trusting of youth, but I'll reserve full judgement for the second half of the season I think.

You are wrong.
But whatever, he will never be the waste of Money that Wirtz is, or Isak, Frimpong, and Kirkez 🥲

When you group them together like that mate, you can see actually the individual adjustment process. Its either age, experience or experience of this league in terms of adjustment and developmental needs

I think its a fair assessment to judge Moyes s much on the development and adjustment of these players as it is to question the players themselves.

Its a different Everton era then the one he lvied through, were he was master of all he surveyed. I think there will process with this management and ownership group looking at the recruitment and development of these players as investments come the end of the season and what progress has been made on that investment.

Personally i trust Moyes a lot, i remember the adjustment process of a lot of his former Everton players but also the likes of Bowen at WHU.

For Tyler i think its a tough gig, no one is really dropping Illy or Grealish lets be honest, its a high bar especially when you are 19. Do you bring him on with 20 mins to go on Monday, when you are under the kosh and a decision turns 3 points into 1 or 0 - dont think so. If you look at the other games, since he got 45 mins Vs Palace, Spurs - no, City away - no, Sunderland away - no, only one id query was Fulham home - he really should have gotten 15-20 mins there - if my memory is right though Moyes wasn't happy with him at the time in training.

He seems like he needs time to adjust. Doesn't seem as confident as he did initially with Southampton.

I am happy if Moyes gives him time. I think moving can be tough and he has struggled with it before, we have two great wingers so there is no rush.

I genuinely question the football knowledge or even working eyes of anyone who doubts his ability.....its clear to see.

But...its the things we don't see that could always stops players succeeding, think that's always going to be a worry for any player, especially young players.

I think he will be brilliant for us.

It's currently one of the oddest transfers in our history. How he's not getting any 5 or 10 min cameo appearances defies belief.
