2025/26 Tyler Dibling

….how odd, i’m absolutely desperate for Dibling to succeed, I’ve no doubt he’s different gravy to Chermiti. We just don’t know if there are issues at play here so I just don’t get ‘he needs a run of games’ theory.

Don’t think anybody is writing him off and surely nobody wants the lad to fail but it’s not as simple as continually saying ‘he’s only 19’, he’s played enough at the top level to be old enough and good enough to be more involved than he is. Be good to get an explanation from Moyes.
Moyes will say he's had chances and hasn't been good enough, and he will get more chances in the future, which he will. McNeill was appalling the last time he played, so surely Dibling will get another go before he does.

Im assuming, due to hints from Moyes about him being shy, that he isn't as settled into the team as Moyes wants to see.

Maybe Moyes isn't getting it right...but I tend to trust him on man management of youngsters. From Rooney to Baines to Rice and Fellaini, Coleman and Jagielka - he's managed many people to have good long careers ultimately - even as they moved away.

Its funny people mention Barkley - maybe if Moyes had stayed his career wouldn't have been such a mess.

….thought McNeil was much better than his performance at Sunderland. I’d have to think he’s the more likely cover for Ndiaye in January.

I can only guess what’s happening with Dibling. I’m sure the hope was he’d be an exciting addition to the squad, getting decent playing time and providing cover for Ndiaye. Because of that, I’d also be sure his move has not gone as expected as he’s not impressing enough to be involved.

Maybe he’s just not as good as they thought or maybe he’s finding the move really difficult. He’s making the bench but they seem to be keeping a lid on his profile, not even giving him some football at U21 level, so he could be struggling and the club are protecting him and simply giving him time.

@GrandOldTeam posted something showing something like Moyes hadnt started a teenager in 5 years.

He's known not to play young players. He typically prefers experience.

You have picked a very mentally strong group of players there.

Dibling's biggest issue could be his mental growth, not ability growth.
Maybe that is what concerns Moyes.

….stats like that can be misleading, not sure West Ham had a queue of youngsters on the verge of playing, only Potts coming through since he left and Moyes gave him his debut.

Many wouldn't say Dyche was one for giving young players a go, but Armstrong, Dobbin and Dixon all got debuts/mins under him. Garner and Branthwaite also became regulars.

Perception and stats can be misleading.

Given that Dibling played over 30 Premier League games last season and was Southampton's best player, we can only assume he's struggling to settle in the North West. If that's the case maybe we should loan him back to Southampton from January. At least he'll get some football that way and either come back with a different attitude or we can sell him to a club like Bournemouth where he wouldn't have to move.

….sound so simple these suggestions but if we want him to settle up here, I’m not sure sending him home is such a good idea. Southampton might not be the best club for him to be involved with at the current time.

He needs to be enjoying his football, he needs to be wanting to play and we don’t know if that’s the case at the moment.

Your stock rises and falls so quickly in modern football. Horrible to say but he's a commodity, and if he doesn't play for us this season his worth will plummet.
