The scary thing is, we simply do not know.
We will spend 40m on the lad in the hope that he makes it.
Madness.
Nothing wrong with that as such, every signing is a risk, but footy hey.
and if does we sell for more
if he doesn’t we sell for less

Moise Kean is banging them inMy mate (who is a blue) now lives and works in Southampton. He's seen him quite a few times and thinks he's a star in the making. All his mates down there , apparently think the same of this lad.
That said my mate's judgement of young players can be suspect (as can mine). We both thought that Moise Kean was going to be a great buy.
It was 40 million plus 5 million in addons - https://www.skysports.com/football/...rom-everton-after-handing-in-transfer-request
Apparently his latest paidcast I mean podcastWhere’s he said this?
He'll be worth 80M next season.and if does we sell for more

I said elsewhere I didn't see him get up too much against us and we were definitely no great shakes last yearThe scary thing is, we simply do not know.

Its a concern that Zat rates him for sure.I said elsewhere I didn't see him get up too much against us and we were definitely no great shakes last year
Players who are already top quality won't come here, players who are just bog standard 'PL proven' don't move the dial forward, if we want to actually get better over the long run then this is the type of deal we have to do. It's a risk of course, but who wouldn't be? Having a clear vision and being seen as a place where players can develop and play good football is going to be much more attractive to players than finishing 9th in the league with a load of ageing plodders playing safety first football, that's very obvious just looking at what clubs like Brighton, Bournemouth etc are doing.
I mean obviously we need end product to some extent, everybody does at the end of the day. I don't really agree with the 'we need somebody who's going to produce right now' shouts though. We're obviously not going to immediately gatecrash the top 4, and as long as we add a a few more decent players to beef the squad up you'd hope we'd have enough about us not to go down. So why do we need people who are going to produce great numbers immediately? Surely it's better to bring players in who give us a chance of building a genuinely good side over the next couple of years rather than spending a load of money bringing someone like Grealish in for one year to help us finish 9th instead of 11th.
They’ll 100% want this (or another marquee signing) done by end of next week to feature against Roma.Ideally we want a couple in to play some minutes against Roma first
FFS can imagine us signing him today and him turning up at FF tomorrow and having to train on his toddThere is this....
He was unable to play and train with his new team-mates as Chelsea abided by the Premier League's five-step review process, an investigation used during transfers for academy players before they can be registered to ensure everything is above board with the move.
While his new team-mates went to win a pre-season tournament in Germany in the summer of 2022, strengthening their bond, Dibling was training alone with a coach.
That isolation was a large reason for him struggling to settle and the clubs were still in negotiations over a fee when Dibling made his desire to return to Southampton clear after just six weeks.
What happened in particular circumstances at 16 for a youth player shouldn't necessarily be a measuring stick for what happens in very different circumstances at 19 for an established senior player.
They want Grealish according to Bobble. Dibling on the right, Grealish on the left, Ndiaye through the middle behind Beto/Barry.But not at £40+mill. We're not Chelsea or Spurs who can afford to spend that type money on 19 year olds who'll hopefully develop. The reason they do is because they have adequate cover in areas.
We on the other hand have a very poor to average attack and have done for years. We currently have Ndiaye, Beto, and McNeil in an attack that can deliver to an extent in the prem. Followed by Barry and Chermitti who are "developing". Its pretty thin. You can throw Alcaraz in their too but hes nowhere near the cost.
We then go an blow £40mill on Dibbling to add to that...it doesn't really improve it. It improves longevity in the hopes he'll develop. Say we did buy him...id still expect another more experienced attacking player.
And finishing 9th is more attractive than 11th when it comes to recruitment to improve.
