If we walk and it turns out that Southampton were full of ish with their claims of the lad being in demand then this could go really pear shaped for them.
I maintain - that 'counter offer' they came back to us with was a joke and no way are any other club agreeing to something like that..
This is the weird thing. Even if there are other interested parties, nobody is agreeing to that clause.
And Southampton, at no point, have said he's not for sale.
It's a hard negotiating position, but it is a negotiating position. Suppose it's whether we can be bothered playing the game for much longer. Southampton clearly in no rush and keen to see how much they can squeeze out of us (which is fair enough).
Might need to take a step back in order to make two forward.
