The pub scene was txt book Meadows - a real boozer, using people who drink in there, rather than extras.

Meadows stuff can be hit and miss, but when it’s good, it’s outstanding.

That bit was great, you can see things like that happening all the time too.

Meadows used to drink in a fairy rough pub in Nottingham (with Vicky McClure). He is in with the NFFC 'firm' too. Half of the This Is England cast used to work in the local pubs, saw them around loads.

Tend to find his stuff a bit too stylised.

Loving it so far. Think we all owe a debt to the people who sorted the mess seeing just how close it was to really laying waste to a large part of the continent.

What most terrifying is how much I didn't know about this catastrophe - other than the obvious stuff I remember from the news back in 1986.
Europe could of been a much different place, but for a few....
Not a very good advert for the Soviet regime either.

Exactly what I thought. I remember the warnings about the toxic cloud.

The scary part was because of the communist state they did not want to let that info out

I remember the warnings about eating Welsh lamb for years after and seeing a map at the time of the radioactive cloud over the uk with high rainfall in the northwest that day - Scary
- does make you think did the British / western European public get the full story too.

Aha. If Nottingham based - The Southbank, it's not very nice but right next to Forest ground. A few used to work at The Orange Tree which very recently changed its name.

Thanks for that. Southbank is pretty ropey but ok for a pre match drink. Been drinking in the Orange Tree off and on for years but always early doors and wouldn't know a famous person if they barged into me and made me spill my pint.

I didn't know who they were until someone told me. They were from This Is England so they look a lot more 'normal' than what you'd think I guess.
