TV Series

finished Altered carbson last night.

Very good show i thought. It isn't the greatest but i enjoyed it. It is based off a book so you can tell it has been dumbed down a little bit for a show. Enjoyed the sensible ending as well, ended the way it should be (never read the books).

My only gripe (which is bound by the book) is that not enough was done to take advantage of the world itself, too self contained

not series but a couple os Aussie things I'm gonna watch...
The Bra Boys
The Block

@McBain
partly cos went up Maroubra quite a bit to some surf lidz & to the estate there as well.
& did a job up Eveleigh St where we had cops standing next to the Kingswood, I was on the back passing the tools to the lads, all kinds went on incl them trying to get me to "come meet Ernie Dingo" all day long & open dealing yards away incl 1 guy that got his gear then did a big handbrake at the end before dragging down the street, 5 mins later he comes flying round the corner jumps out a lays the dealer out flat. Cops didnt bat an eyelid.

nowhere near the same league...I couldn't tell if it was a comedy after 6 episodes.

The hooker is stunning mind.
I get the impression. it makes them out to be bungling fools in the first series in the way that they are learning their trade and from their own mistakes.Hope I am right, as I am only on episode 6 of season 1.I know what you mean though, bodies getting buried on a new housing plot etc.

Give Janet King a watch it is half decent and pleasantly surprised me.

I worked on Crownies, the original series before it spun off into Janet King.

Haha doesn’t surprise me. Eveleigh has recently been taken over by the Aboriginal Housing Commision, kind of a corporate enterprise run by the Mundines to try redevelop the area. Most of the aboriginals have been moved out while they get their plans through. Maroubra and Matraville have changed alot too. Up on the headland next to the golf course, where that old hospital was is just full of apartments now. I’ve been shooting out west in the housing commissions this week and theres some full on crazies out there! Probably not as mad as what you have but Ill try pop up some recent pics in the pics thread later.

Housing Commissions - I was trying to think what you lot called them, the Maroubra place was a prefab gaff, stayed in the car tbh there. Surf lidz were just a gang of young lads bonged out of their brains every day & mostly from Bronte & Coogee but unable to rent there. 1 lived near a house used in Heartbreak High & they'd disrupt filming every time to get paid to basically F'off. Eastern Suburbs lads so you can imagine the kind of unpolitically correct stuff that was getting shouted.

Worked in Matraville off Beauchamp Rd (they call it Beechamp folks) in Perry St, nearly got lynched in the pub at the other end when we tried to do a runner with the Meat draw, me & the apprentice, we were rooted tbh & could hardly walk never mind leg it with a tray of meat.
I liked out west, the eye candy was superb... an Italian girl I went out with a couple of times from west Ryde was sensational. Bankstown/(Campsie ?) station was usually a good sight as we passed by as well- near Belmore.

Maroubra Pie Shop btw did chilli pasties.

Did some work at the old Loco Works in Redfern as well, I remembered it as being a Tram depot though ? possibly cos there were some old 1's in there.
I went via redfern every day from the cross to matraville but they told me that I'd defo be a target when we went & to not rip folk like I did everywhere else.

seems like yesterday as well tbh

I heard the stories about the Heartbreak High Yobs. The tram depot's in Redfern have all shut down now. They're becoming part of the greater Carriageworks footprint but still need alot of work to get out all the old asbestos.

Deffo some absolute stunners around everywhere now. With the hot weather and the invention of Active wear there just tops it off.

Anyhoo heres some recommendations for Aussie drama you've probably never heard of...

And heres one I worked on in 2016

Blue Murder : Killer Cop

has to be said that the Underbelly series is one of my favs that I've binged on, the fact that a lot of it is on the cross pretty much when I was there as well made it a bit more interesting cos we did meet quite a few incredibly dodgy folk, never any probs like but you do start wondering about some of them after seeing that.
We were regular faces over the time there though, didn't cause trouble & would be filling their places on nights they would've been empty otherwise. they thought WE were all a bit nuts tbh out partying on a tuesday night but far less trouble & abuse than when the Aussies turned up on a weekend. Bouncers at Bourbon Beefsteak seemed to always take our side if any grief & also the leagues club next door, loads worked there at diff times as well so a familiarity soon developed which helped.
The Bikies were kind of fascinated with football gangs as it didnt exist over there.

i enjoyed underbelly . I’ve watched 3 of them , The kings cross one , the one about the weed In the 70’s and the first one about Karl Williams ( I think ) the 1st one is the best .
The acting isn’t great but it’s the fact they are true stories makes them good . Brutal too .

think the next 1 winds back to between the wars, there's a kiwi 'land of the long green cloud' & there's a final 1 that they had to delay cos folk still hadnt been to court. few 1 episode spinoffs as well.
btw Karl Williams girlfriend, the slim filthy 1 used to be in home & away, how her body is like that idk cos shes had about 6 kids.

possibly about 7 series ? @McBain will tell us cos he worked on it.
