Haha yeah.
I'll forward your concerns onto the Production Designer mate.
When i was over there a guy who was staying in the same place was on his 2nd working holiday visa (only allowed the 1) his first one was on the old Passport and then he'd got another on the new type of Passport as they were completely different with a different 'numbering system' completely from the old ones so the Australian database didn't recognise him from the 1st time. Both types of Passport were in use for a spell cos if you got 1 the day before the new ones started being issued then it was valid for the full 10 years, thinking back we should have tried doing it as well really as when we returned to the UK we found out that it was much easier to stay in Oz when already there than it was to move there from the UK. We saved a fortune up in the time we were there, my Mrs was working in the Sheraton at Potts Point & they were paying her tons for overtime due to the Chef being an ale can that couldnt get up in a morning.
I think we were there at almost a 'peak' (1994) though with regard to wages being good and rent etc not being so high, seems that since then the wages havent gone up all that much, minimum wage was a lot different from minimum wage over here cos you could be on it and live quite a good lifestyle and manage to save some as well. Looking on Google it's $2 an hour more now than back then, it must have started to increase again cos I know someone that was there about 5 years ago & it had hardly gone up from when we was there (in fact its gone up by $70 since 2010 from $569 to $641).
Here it's £241 compared to £315 there
I bet all kinds got into the country when the new passports came out.
