TV Series

underbelly is decent. about gangland Melbourne based on true stories from different era's. the first series I watched in a day.

Think I'll give this a blimp, I've watched about 5 episodes of Mad Men & it aint my thing tbh.

Series 3 interests me...

Underbelly: The Golden Mile (2010)[edit]
Main article: Underbelly: The Golden Mile
Series 3 is the sequel to A Tale of Two Cities plus a prequel to the first series and focuses on events that stemmed from the Kings Cross nightclub scene in Sydney between the years 1988 to 1999.

The activities of corrupt Kings Cross police officers – most notably Trevor Haken and "Chook" Fowler – and their actions are mainly depicted in the series, and some of these characters reprise their roles from the second season. The Wood Royal Commission into police corruption which occurred in 1995 is also prominently featured.

Having frequented the cross due to living there it'll be interesting to see whats in it, used to go in the clubs all of the time & tbh they all knew us and let us do whatever we wanted as we'd be in their bars in the day & stuff. Cops would come in the Hostel sometimes and there'd be clouds of smoke & they weren't bothered, there was even a bar right behind the Police Station where we'd go cos we could 'smoke' and the amount of times there'd be a cop in there drinking and use the line "You bladdy Poms never leave it alone." Bar owner used to get it out at times as well with a nod & wink saying he'd been given a freebie.... we took it that it was weed that had been taken in a raid.

Midway through 1864 in BBC Four at the moment. Great stuff, nice blend of modern and historical settings, great battle scenes (not as first-person in-yer-face as Band Of Brothers, but still very well produced).

Enjoyed 1st 2 episodes of Underbelly, Alphonse Gangitano is a fantastic name, probably loads of Gangitano's like in Melbourne.

I know exactly what kind of name @McBain will be thinking it is as well, lets say a 'Not Politically Correct' one.

I have watched all of the Underbelly lot and loved them........... mainly because it /they were all based on actual events. I POSTED EARLIER IN THIS THREAD ABOUT THE SERIES................and it got put down because of the Oz actors. (sorry for caps lock not meant...cba re typing)

The apology was 1 character more than the bit you did in caps.

Put down?

The first series is a brilliant bit of Aussie Telly. I worked on series 2 & 3 and they were okay for the most part.

A good one i did recently was Catching Milat, about that crazy backpacker killer in the 90's.

Interesting tid-bit -

We couldn't actually shoot in Kings Cross, as it was too modern to look like Kings Cross of the 80's.

We ended up shooting it in Lane Cove over three nights after a city-wide search.
