TV Series

Half way through the second episode really not feeling it, it’s going to be hard to stick with it anyone seen the whole series?

Just about to finish it.

It’s one that certainly won’t appeal to everyone, as it’s quite arty in the way it’s filmed in noir black and white in a mock 60’s style.

Thought Andrew Scott was perfect as Ripley, probably the closest anyones got to the character in the book. The rest of the cast not so good.

It’s certainly not a must watch.

I quite enjoyed it but absolutely did not need to be 8 episodes long. Andrew Scott was great as you say. Quite liked the main policeman too but the rest felt like they were filling roles rather than being picked for them specifically. It was shot beautifully which kept my attention for longer than it probably normally would have. Weird cameo in there too which felt completely unnecessary.

Parts of it reminded me of that spoof they used to do on the Fast Show of black and white 60’s stuff - “ poppet on a swing “ 😂

Final ever episode of Curb Your Enthusiasm. Brilliant. Mirrored the ending of Seinfeld with a slight twist and a nod to how they probably should’ve ended that back then.
It was great, a little self-indulgent, but fair enough it's been a great show.

'What, are you gonna adopt a 40 yr old?'
Im still chuckling to myself at that line 😂

They are based on Kanye West albums hence why they go a bit weird.

Loved Atlanta
Where did you hear this?

It got weird because Glover has full control and that's what he wanted to do with it. There were earlier episodes that were more like the later seasons. It was always a bit of an absurdist humor take on Atlanta and the black community.

This is the first I've heard of any Kanye West connection.

I'd love this to be good but it reeks of that naff Spartacus show with Hopkins being green screened in while sat in a chair wearing a toga

Agree. The only thing it has going for it is Anthony Hopkins, overall the trailer looks proper budget. Peacock making it doesn't inspire faith either.

Someone needs to make a new Rome show. I'm still annoyed at how the HBO/BBC one ended. If they could make something like that again but with today's production standards, it would surely be TV gold.

I'm hoping Shogun sets a trend of massively expensive historical epics.

I'm genuinely surprised how the general audience had gone for it as historical (at least non-American "history") and subtitled stuff doesn't usually find an audience in the US.
