TV Series

Serial killers must be up there with those most Wiki’d things out there. They’d be stupid not to produce shows. I mean look how many on here watched.

there is a different between reading a wiki page to a TV show though. Netflix seem to just roll them out like it's some kind of conveyer belt, they're all so similarly done too, like they have a set processes for serial killer series. I used to listen to the odd true crime podcast but now there is so much serial killer (or murder) stuff that you come desensitised and they kind of get glorified (especially netflix ones)

Well yeh, of course, I was pointing more towards they are an obvious money maker due to the popularity of the topic.

The last episode of the third series was a bit underwhelming, albeit, they`re obviously doing a fourth series.

Ian McShane steals it.
iirc, there was a film 12yrs(?) on which sort of tidied things up, at least one cast member had died in real life, show runner lost the plot a bit by end S3...Mr Wu had a word for him

When it was good, which it was - it was very, very, good.

Not seen the film ?

My take on the tv series, is that the way they left the end of series 3, there`s deffo another one in the pipeline.

I was all ready for Mr Wu and his Chinese mob, to go full mental in series 3 too lol

Never that keen on the ‘True Crime’ genre to begin with but think Netflix not speaking with the families is pretty exploitative.

Doubt I would have watched it anyways tbh

I read a review that said the amount of true crime docs and shows about him have turned him into an icon, which is horrible.

Never been a fan of those torture porn shows or films in general.

Any coverage of Dahmer would be met with understandably similar sentiments from victims families. I had remembered this case but confess I didn't know the extent of details that were depicted in the Netflix series. It was very stressful to watch but compelling nevertheless, if nothing else I left with three prevailing impressions that will stay with me

One, the police in the US are absolutely revolting
Two, people of color were predominantly victims both by police failing to do more & for being targets of Dahmer
Three, I gained a great deal of empathy for the victims families

As I say, they will never have peace regardless but an important story to be told IMHO

Just watched all three seasons of Deadwood. Loved the first and second, thought the third really lost its way with Brian Cox's character dominating too many episodes, felt like it got away from itself.

Underwhelmed by the ending, then it grew on me. Can see why it had such a following, much better than all this dragon and dwarf nonsense that is on now.
The film is defo worth a watch. Is still an outstanding show. The drama folk in the 3rd series derailed things a bit agreed.
The dynamic and ongoing hate/respect between McShane and Olyphant is as well done as you’ll see anywhere.
