Nah no-one would want an experienced defender who's proven quality in the league over someone who hasn't played in the league ever and is still an unproven player at the highest level.

In fairness we've brought in arguably £20m worth of players, we've just done extremely good business.

Southampton are apparently signing Caulker on loan. Bit of a step down from Alderweireld, QPR fans didn't rate him last season. Might mean Van Dijk is more likely to come here though.

Winger predominately, but in fairness I reckon he could play anywhere across the top. 19 goals and 21 assists in all competitions last year for Dynamo Kiev including 2 assists and a goal against us.

Not arguing with that for a second. Just saying the least-spent-in-the-league thing is a bit misleading. Even if it's worth it for @Moomin's metaphors.

Despite some appalling journalism, Southampton won't look at van Dijk as he's cup tied for their Europa League campaign.

Was about to post this. I think Caulker is good personally but yeah, it does pave the way for the Van Dijk move I suppose.

He'd cost roughly the same as what we were looking to pay for Ogbonna too so the money shouldn't be an issue.
