Transfer Window Assessment

So we started at £28m for the pair and finished with £27.5m for Fellaini alone. Can't fault it.

It sounds like Whelan tried the same trick on us but only squeezed another £3m out of us at best.

The one I'm least convinced about is Barry, especially as he'll become the club's top-earner but maybe his experience will help to settle the 22 year old McCarthy and the 19 year old Barkley?

With the tv money, the reduction in rent for Finch Farm, the loss of high earners like Moyes, Neville and Fellaini and the £19m profit raked in surely the club can't still be in debt.

Then I would say thanks for your 17 goals Romulen, thanks and goodbye, best of luck in your endeavours.

It sounds like your saying you don't want him to do well because then we will miss him? But that can't be right, so I must have misconstrued you.

I hope he scores 30 goals and wins player of the year.

I'm just looking long term, and hoping the money will be there to replace this lad if he is a revelation for us.

The people saying we won't have a prayer of signing the loannees are maybe spouting rubbish. Ok we have no chance of signing Gerard but Barry is out of contract in the summer and if he does well may well end up here and the way Mourinho gets rid of random players there is a fair chance Lukaku will never play for Chelsea so he may be a possible signing too in the long run.
if lukaku does well again wont his value increase to out of our reach

we didnt get the octopus but we got a crab in barry...oculdnt resist

lakaku is a great loan..mccarthy has potential. big vic 6m is great money
sad to see felli go but he wanted to leave so best to him.

Most astute signing of the window is Gareth Barry IMO

I'm quite pleased with it myself; hope we aren't covering his full weekly wage as has been reported in some places.

Good day for you, Everton held out on Fellaini and you don't have to retire from Everton

Most astute signing of the window is Gareth Barry IMO

He'll give us some real solidity in the centre of the park & will protect the back line with aplomb

I think Lukaku will have the greatest headline bringing impact, but Barry could prove to be a great piece of business for EFC

There is no hate. Without the Lukaku loan people would be going mad at how we have failed to spend more than half the Fellaini money and used it to spend yet another Wigan player. People are getting caught up in the excitement, which is fair enough, but you couldn't call it an ideal transfer window.
You are still in the "find fault" mode. Try to find time to enjoy the team you support.

We've overspent (which can't happen again, btw) on a couple of players and a good portion of our side may not be staying after the end of the season, so it is a short-term fix, but it is a very good one on the face of it.

We can forget any talk of mid-table now, this is a great squad we have now. Lukaku is a real coup for the club and no mistake. I think he'll have the sh*te on toast this season. Lots to look forward to this season at least.

Great business on Felli and Vic. Made £4/5m more than they were worth, which really helps us. Our squad looks really good now. The fact that Barry, Osman, Deulofeu, Stones, Oviedo, Heitinga, Duffy, Kone, Jelavic, Robles, Hibbert, Gueye and God knows who else are all squad players now really bodes well for our chances.

£10m left over.

Mirallas, Baines, Jelavic, Heitinga - all saleable assets. Why are we even talking like this?

If players do well, other clubs will be interested in them.

If the players do well, Everton will have done well, and for me, that's all I want.

£10m?

£27.5m+ £5m ish= £32.5m.

£13m out leaves £19.5m.

If the deal for Barry is that we pay his full wages then Felli's wages cover that. I suppose we might be paying £3m for Lukaku and you could add it to the £6m already spent to come up with £10m.

If Lukaku gets us into the CL he will be more than worth it.
