Riera?

Suddenly this lad who couldn't cut it at City and plays for a second rate Spanish club is to be the saviour?

I know we're desperate, but surely we must have some level of realism left?

He's not even a proper international - 6 caps. 26 yo, as a winger that's only 3 or 4 years left at the top, no sell on value.

If this move is true it is a waste of money. Make this guy Everton's RECORD signing? You have got to be kidding.

1) City couldn't agree a deal with Espanyol at the time, following season they went to the UEFA Cup final.
2)Second rate side really? - Finished above Valencia last season, suppose that means Silva, Joaquin and Fernandes are all crap as well.
3) How many caps does Arteta have again?

Never seen him on youtube but live on telly a fair few times. I think he's a good player myself but not sure he's worth breakink the transfer record for. As someone said, he didn't cut it at city but he didn't have a long spell there really. Probably do well at Arse. I'd prefer Luis Garcia personally. there's more to his game and he's got a good goal record.

1) Rangers got to the UEFA Cup Final - it doesn't mean jack. Boro got to the UEFA Final. He was distinctly average at City.

2) Lots of teams finished above Valencia - probably the Spanish equivalent of Spurs last year in the league - great underachievement. It doesn't mean their players are crap. But to break the Everton transfer record with a signing from a mid-table Spanish club? Can you honestly say you would be happy with that? Let Liverpool waste their money on players like this.

3) Arteta has zero caps - but Arteta cost £2m and we loaned him before buying. Breaking the Everton FC TRANSFER RECORD for this guy is completely different.

When Everton do break their transfer record I hope it's for someone a lot better than Riera. If they can supposedly spend 12m on Riera, then why not spend 9m on Milner? At least we'd get our money back.

Riera? Open your eyes.

[Poor language removed] at city !!!!

rather go with what we've got, or blow the whole of the transfer budget on some one worth while ........ i.e asharvin or moutinho

Serious comedown from Moutinho, and if he is so good, how come City managed to get him on loan?

I also remember him being distinctly average during that loan spell.

Sounds like a good player to me, a player which we've been lacking since Kanchelskis.

(not saying he's as good as Kanchelskis but he's a similar style of player in my opinion.)

The thing is every one now know how desperate we are to sign players so they can charge more.Do not know enough about the guy to pass judgement but really its only Moyes opinion that counts.if we dont get any one before the deadline I can see trouble brewing.I would sooner Moyes stay than Kenwright but lets be honest if its a choice between owner and manager its a no-brainer who goes:(

To be honest Moyes has been really bugging me of late and he's let us down badly. And he needs to sign the contract now. But I agree mate, I'd have him before Kenwright any day. I still rate him as the best manager in the UK outside the top three in the EPL, apart from, perhaps, O'Neil.
