Transfer rumour: Marcus Berg

He looks a decent prospect and is certainly one to look out for. What concerns me however is the £10 million price tag for a player with an unproven/untested record in England. We spent £11.75 million on Yakubu who is a proven striker in England so spending so much on a lad without that experience is risky for a club with little money.

Looked boss against other U21's. A reported ten millionis a lot for us for a striker when you consider we have four and could possibly end up with Owen and Jo on the books.

I heard hes going to Ajax.

Probably over-priced after the tournament. That's his main problem. Haven't seen him play or anything but that seems to be norm for any player who had a good tournament.

I think it was only a question of time before this rumor started... He's young and therefore he must be of interest to Everton.

He does score goals regularly though.. I think one every three games in the Dutch League. But I think he would have a somewhat difficult time to settle into the Premier League where it's a bit tougher climate. Also the overprized fee is a Nono. He might very well become a very good player in a few years, but we can't splash out £10M another striker. If the fee where lower, say £5-6M, it would have been much more interesting for me.

Ajax officially denied making a bid for Berg. Was out of the question they said. Berg was quoted last week saying he wanted to join a club in England or Spain.

Also, don't think Ajax have the money anyway. Looks like they also going to miss out on Elia, as they can't pay the transferfee, Twente is demanding.

Looking at your nick, have you watched Berg in Ere Division? Any comments?

Actually think Blue Wiz is spot on in his assesment of Marcus Berg. He's a very good player for Groningen and a great finisher. If he's ready for the PL, has to be seen though. For £ 10m, it's too big a risk if you ask me, as we don't have endless bundles of cash. For £5m, he would probably worth a shot, as there's always a decent resale value for a young striker like Berg. Thing is Groningen are in no need to sell. One of the more stable teams in Holland, so I guess they want a top price for their top asset.

According to some local papers, that's pointing to "initiated sources"... Moyes have had his eyes on him for a while and are prepared to pay close to £10M for him. Still can't see that happening though.

The Blues, meanwhile, have ruled out reports linking them with Sweden under-21 striker Marcus Berg, who plays for Groningen.

Aye, one good tournament and he's suddenly worth £10million
His worth was about £6-7M before it, and after his performances there it's no wonder his value increased. No other player have scored as many goals as he did in the tournament since it started.

But £10M for him is way too much.
