Neville Arteta
Bilyaletdinov Cahill Pienaar

this.

we all wanted osman and hibbert to be replaced and they pretty much have been. This makes last years starting players now our bench players.. which in turn makes the squad stronger

Anyone who thinks Osman is an acceptable choice at right mid has been watching different games to me.

Do we need a CM? Yeah we do. But we needed another wide man a lot more.
I didn't say Osman is an acceptable choice at right mid, he isn't. I've said that if I would have to make a choice, central midfield will be always more important for me than wide areas. Ball goes first to centre than it's played out wide, not vice versa. So I could play Osman, Gosling or Cahill, or even Neville as RM, if it would mean we would have 2 quality central midfielders playing as double pivots.

But our problems at CM are only temporary, until Rodwell matures and Arteta is back. Our problem at right mid was permanent.

Of course, we should have got both Bilyaletdinov and Banaga/another CM. We shouldn't have to settle for one or the other.

Rodwell won't mature overnight and Arteta is not back, he also won't play for us forever. Another CM was a must - not as BIG must as Lescott replacement, but more important than spending big on new RB or new RM.
And I agree that we shouldn't settle for one or the other, but we are in constantly in positions like this, so we should be prepared to make a better choices.

A lot of people seem confident that Osman and Hibbert will never be seen near the first team again.

I'm not so sure.

well thats pretty stupid.

its only a few mopnths ago i witnessed osman slot two goals in against fulham..only an example that but to say he wont be anywhere near the first team is a joke surely!?

Hope springs eternal.

Plus £15 million is a lot of money for bench warmers, you have to admit.

Yeah of course.

I mean i hope these guys turn out to be great and are first team regulars.

But knowing how long the right side has been a problem and Moyes penchant for playing his favourite hard working boys i'm not gonna get too excited just yet.

He has a place.

And that place is as a squad player who can come in and play in his best position as and when needed. Be it as sub or in lesser games.

Not as a first team regular on the right as he was last season and so far thus.

I think Bily or Pienaar will play on the right, but I agree about Hibbert still being around. Heitinga may play DM to give Rodwell more time to break through gradually.
