Training In Pre-Seasons

Professional footballers on 50K a week plus should really be comfortable with a ball as a minimum requirement.

I get that he will change the system of playing and tactics will be different, just don't think they need to blather on about using a ball, it's kind of crucial to their job!

I think it's more to do with concentration mate. It helps train them mentally as well as physically, to stay focused for longer periods which is vital in a football match when players are asked to perform different roles/tasks and the game is constantly moving at a high pace.

Oddly Moyes pre season seemed similar to his normal preseasons last year, yet we came out and we were buzzing around CL spots till nearly the end of the season when we dropped off the pace.

Preferably Martinez can find a way to get us going in both halves of the season, that's the hope of course, strong start and a typical Moyes style strong end to the season. Seems a little greedy but I don't see why it couldn't happen.

Ok, looking at the first six games:

Norwich - 3
West Brom - 3
Cardiff - 1
Chelsea - 1
West Ham - 3
Newcastle - 3
Man City - 0
Hull - 3
Villa - 1
Tottenham - 1

19 points with 1 defeat. That is some extremely good results I predict.

It's gonna be harder than I've predicted though

It appears you've got us losing to Man City. This must be a mistake as we know it doesn't happen.

we started off last season playing the best football for about 25 years. I'm not reading too much into training in pre season

Moyes has been slated by a Dutch fitness expert for his "pre-historic" training methods which he says has lead to RVP being injured.

Moyes himself has came out with a bizarre statement re the injury saying that "we" decided to "over-train" him for a week.

Why would any manager want to "over-train" any player in pre-season, particularly one who has been at the top of his game in the previous season?
