Not sure about Unsworth being out of his depth, however, certainly been caught out playing to the gallery. Nothing shameful in our last two games shutting up shop and coming away with draws. Maybe naivety, certainly looked better in the first half last night, but then took off Guaye, the centre backs needing protecting all-night long being a new partnership. Probably lost himself the job

A draw was no good to us last night, he had to go for the win.

I honestly believe he tried to pass the blame onto the board for not properly replacing those players. When he mouthed off to the press about needing a striker and a center back, he knew what he was doing. He was covering his own back.

Whilst there was some degree of it being RK covering himself, he was also right to lay the blame on the board. It was up to them and Walsh to get in a decent replacement for Lukaku, and they failed.

He spent every single penny we had and we're worse....WORSE.

He didn't spend all that money, that's what Steve Walsh and the board are for.

In honesty, we have been crap this past two seasons. Big Rom's goals masked many a brutal performance. Without him, we are holed below water. Managers come, managers go, our squad was and remains abysmal. Hard to be optimistic at this point. I agree with the earlier point about how we got out of jail in the Bournemouth game. Without exception, we have been rubbish in every game I have seen this season. Even in the away leg of the pre qualifier for the Europa league against - no disrespect - part timers, the early warning signs were flashing loud and clear that evening.

Honestly were we lousy by the spring. Jags goals at the end were the only thing that kept us respectable.

Are only strikers allowed to score goals? We are struggling to score goals, struggling to keep possession and struggling to defend because the team has no set shape or system. A good manager will remedy those faults and the team will start scoring goals, keep clean sheets and win football matches. A proven striker is a valuable asset but by no means essential in terms of winning games.

Thing Is, when you don't have one at all then it is very hard to win games. Others can score but without any attacking player then it is very difficult to even get down the pitch to gave a shot. There was a moment last night we crossed it into the box and there was literally no-one in there to get it.

if we stick Ashley Williams up front as a target man we have something to aim for. Having no-one who can at least hold the ball up or pull defenders out of position leaves us with nothing to threaten a defence with

If we go down, I can see us doing a Leeds and spending years not really recovering.
Imagine this team, on this money, but with even less morale and in the Championship, where everyone is seeing us as a cup final and we are fighting against the weight of expectation with naff ref's and dangerous tackles flying in.
Its easy to get sucked into the doom and gloom. I think the board are responsible for the current predicament, Koeman shouldve been sacked last international break, an inexperienced Unsworth shouldve never left the U23s and the next manager shouldve been appointed at the beginning of those 2 weeks. I am worried slightly and relegation is a possiblity as it stands but I cant help but think that a new manager will refresh us and get points on the board, add a half decent striker, LB and CB in the January window and there's a solid team there.

I think worst case scenario, if it actually came to it, and we went down, half the gutless mercenaries would be chucked off and jumping ship, with a decent manager, our youth and our finances we'd get back up in a season. Say what you like about the board but it'd be a serious failure if we went down and I don't think the board would take it lightly, especially with things like the new stadium and brand put at risk, and I do think they'd act appropriately. If Newcastle could do it then we can. I think the best thing we can do now is to get behind a team low on confidence, bite the bullet and not exacerbate the situation for ourselves, the players and the club, these are the times we should show the world what it means to be an Evertonian as hard as that is at the minute.

I thought exactly the same, put a big unit up front to rough up the defenders and hold the ball and put runners in around him. Sounds crazy ,but that's what teams do when they need a goal in the last 10 mins, well we need a goal anytime.

That is where this myth of shared goals comes from. You need to pull defenders away otherwise they are never going to be broken besides shooting from 30 yards. Going back to the stoke game , klassen pulls defenders away for Rooney to score as a result. This is basic football, every team we are facing has no-one to be concerned about. Lewen is going to lose most things in the air and can't take multiple defenders on by himself so he doesn't work in that role.

As crazy as it sounds we should be playing our summer signing sandro in this role. Him with two wide players and siggurdson / Rooney looking for spaces to put the ball gives us something in attack. We don't have to have a brilliant tactical plan, just have players moving defenders across the pitch and pulling them from where they want to be. The minute we do that we have a attacking threat.

A draw meant we were still in it mathematically.

A draw also meant that the team had something to cling to, a game where we didn't lose. Instead a 3 0 defeat means we still can't get a result

'Mathematically' until the next game day, when we would have gone out anyway. What's the point? It would have been Unsworth putting a result that's good for him ahead of one that's good for the club. As it was, the first goal we conceeded had little to do with the change in approach imo, so we would have ended up in the same situation any way.

Hope mate. It gives us hope. We all know we were out without a win last night but not being out mathematically would have gave us something to play for.

I mean if we somehow had scraped through the group then what effect would that have in the league? On club moral knowing we turned it around? Going out last night just cemented the fact we are a team of losers now that can't even shut out a team for 90 minutes.

Up until last weekend, I was convinced we weren't in a relegation battle, we got too much talent to stay down there. With each game though, Players confidence taking a hiding each passing game, the general atmosphere knocking around all come together to create something horrible. Add to this the fact we can't score goals nor defend, the midfield not functioning, we are in serious trouble. The midfield is a worry for me, we all know about how the forwards and our inability to defend but that midfield and the talent we have there, Morgan, Gueye, Davies, we should not be losing so many battles in the Midfield. What is it with them? They look shadows of the players we know they are. The Watford game is absolutely massive before we go into the International break. The Palace away game afterwards, even more so. Win them 2 and things will be so much better.

False hope maybe, with blue tinted glasses on! :o We need real hope and results, otherwise one decent result will just lead into more painful losses. And we already knew we have a team of losers who can't keep a clean sheet!! :( :(

I thought we had some guts, some fight. But now I think we’re no better than Villa or Sunderland when they fell out of the PL - without expecting it.

And it feels pretty awful.

We have enough time to turn it round but where are the positives? Bournemouth and Palace (below us) have been, respectively unlucky and poor (but showing signs of life)

But we just feel sorry for ourselves.

If we lose to Watford im done with this squad and they deserve to get relegated. And im serious. If they cannot dig fight from their selves they can Koff right off and get relegated. Quality is there but the fact is they are not even trying. Heartless punch on knobheads. Sad thing is that we fans suffer the most. But if our squad relly is like this...we deserve to go down. End of.

Dont you think that idiot did enough damage?

Look at this team and how broken it is.

He spent every single penny we had and we're worse....WORSE.

We shouldn't be though, and like others I am not having the blame lays solely at his door.

He was let down in 2 windows in the pursuit of a striker, which ended up with a last minute panic in Enner Valencia last year and nobody coming in this window to replace Lukaku.

He had mended the mess Martinez had made, we were all buzzing when we signed Pickford, Keane, Sandro and Klaassen....his downfall was probably then wasting money on another number 10 (it should have been Gylfi or Klaassen) and possibly bringing Rooney back, which at the time a lot of people were on the fence about.

He has made errors and a mess of things, I would be stupid to deny that, but if I remember rightly Southampton got into a mess at the start of his second season there and he turned it around.
