Austin...and maybe Dallas.
Lived in the Dallas area for a while... Nice place, but Ft Worth remains more romantic to me. And San Antonio is a vastly underrated city I think.
Austin...and maybe Dallas.
I don't do cities. I live in a great one (Liverpool.) When I go away, I end up in the middle of nowhere.
Several of my favorite places are anti-cities. The small towns in Southern and Coastal Oregon are tremendous. Likewise, I haven't visited any part of Maine that wasn't spectacular. Texas Hill Country is fabulous (and famous Luckenbach has a population no more than 10, most of whom are dogs). The Mrs Nigh tells me the Lake District is one of her favorite places she's been (and she's visited England, Finland, Germany, and Austria, of which I'm jealous).
Sydney- 12months & loved every minute
Christchurch- just short of 3 years, Daughter born there
The Dam- was only 20 mins from me so had lots of days/nights/weekends out there
Haarlem- Even closer than Amsterdam, nowhere near as busy though.
do I have to put 10 ?
I've been in and out of a few cities but not actually stayed in them for any length of time that warrants being able to form an opinion that's worth it's salt. This aint Tripadvisor.
Apart from the obvious big cities in the world, I have enjoyed some hidden gems
Tulum, Mexico - nothing quite like sleeping right next to the beach
Lugano, Suisse - a hidden oasis that reminds me of Hawaii with how lush & beautiful it is
Kauai, Hawaii - the Napali coast by boat (Along with whale watching) is a unique & memorable experience
Cassis, France - my favorite spot in Provence
