In alphabetical order!
Also it's fascinating to me so many people here rate Chicago... I actually think it's kind of gash for a city of its size. To me, it's just that giant, inept city about 90 miles to the south that I make fun of.
I dunno, probably because I'm so close to it that it's just not as special..
Its not that pretty or that organised but its got so much life about it I loved it - I was based in Toledo at the time and Chicago was a wonderful escape! Its also the city where I've been both the hottest (was there during the 1995 heatwave) and coldest so that tends to stick in the mind.

You are right though, sometimes it takes a little bit of distance to make you appreciate things - I live less than 4 hours from Yosemite and haven't visited in 5 years yet went a couple of times when lived in UK....yet have seen more of UK sights since I left than I did when I lived there.

One thing I do love in Chicago, and a tip for the rest of you if you ever go there... Signature Room on the 95th floor of the John Hancock Center. View can't be beat, and if you go for lunch, it's not even that bad of a price ($20 for the buffet).

Was there last Saturday, actually.

Make reservations if you plan on going. You can make them online, you don't even have to call anybody.
