Tommy Wright

RIP. I had the 1970 squad picture on my wall when I was about 5.

Tommy Wright was an integral part of the 1969/70 championship winning team.
A team containing 7 local lads as first team regulars history has never given Catterick the credit he deserved for that.
The question has often been asked who would have come out on top if the 1970 team played the 85 team?
Having watched them both i would probably say the 85 team but the 1970 team was the better pure footballing team.
RIP Tommy gone but never forgotten

Younger Blues (and by that I mean anyone younger than about 55/60) won’t have seen Tommy play so let George Best sum him up best.

George described Tommy as “the toughest full back I ever played against”.

RIP Tommy.

(am I right in thinking Tommy was Billy Wright’s uncle)
Correct and right my friend.
