Yes, and for me he's been driving from midfield. It's more like a hybrid 8/10 role than a 10 who plays off the striker.

Out of possession, we have been playing 442. KDH next to the striker when we defend in a low block, while we are allowing opponents to outnumber and overrun us in the midfield. Against Leeds we did benefit from and gain more control when we changed to three man midfield second half.

If Soucek is what it takes for Moyes to show a little bit of ambition and change into a more offensive 433 formation, I am all for the signing. As all of our current midfielders would benefit from a change of formation.

If the plan is to continue to ignore the midfield signing Soucek won't be the problem. Then we have a manager problem.

Yeah , I think that is true.
As a squad player to be used only in emergency and rarely seen otherwise , would be acceptable.

Moyes has said that RB isn't a priority. And that kind of makes sense. If our right winger will be either Ndiaye that is awful out of possession or a 19 year old with a lot to learn, we need a proper defender behind them. You'll only get away with two way full backs if they play behind two way wingers. Alcaraz is our only right wing alternative that can do a defensive job.

Not sure what you mean by defensive mid. Soucek can be that. When Rice decided that he wanted to be an 8, Soucek was the most defensive midfielder for Moyes' West Ham team. He has played more and better as a 6 than any of our current midfielders.

I am all for well rounded midfielders that can cover different positions and game states. I take that every day of the week over limited "specialists" that need a ton of help from those around them to cover for their shortcomings.

Soucek is not a ‘well rounded midfielder’
He is actually fairly limited.
And if used defensively it negates his outstanding attribute , the ability to score goals.
If you use him to go up for corners , someone has to drop and cover his defensive responsibilities due to his poor mobility.

Not from any common play style but from the idea that it's a player we got for a specific manager and ended up stuck with because we couldn't shift him...

Im not denying he is decent at that but what about the other 50-70 times he receives the ball at his feet per game?

If he was free and he was bought to come on in some games were we are losing or drawing for the last 15-20 mins ok, but paying big money for him at his age and with his ability its massive no from me.
