NO, ROONEY'S FINISHED AND DAVIES IS AWFUL, DIDN'T YOU GET THE MEMO??It's no mistake that our best performances have been a midfield of Gana/Davies and Rooney this season it's our best combination for me

Pretty sure he started in midfield when we beat West Ham and Huddersfield and was brought on at 1-1 against Swansea. Hes been out of sorts but he still attempts to play forward and now he will have options with Walcott Tosun and Boalsie infront.
even if Davies scores from a pinpoint perfect pass from Rooney? ok if you say so.NO, ROONEY'S FINISHED AND DAVIES IS AWFUL, DIDN'T YOU GET THE MEMO??

I've been thinking this for a while now - give Klaassen a go next to Gueye. He was the quickest player on the pitch last night (on average) and covered the most ground (12.4k) for us. That's 1.05 km more than Gana, who was nearest to him.
That midfield three we played last night is the one that should be starting the majority of games. It's got balance and a bit of everything.
And Klaassen, now he's here, needs to be given a chance when any injuries come in - especially to Davies.
Him and Davies should be the ones rotating in the box-to-box role if needed.

He played in the same system at Ajax, as the box-to-box player in a three.
That should have been his role from the start. It should have been the system from the start.
Not even with Klaassen at first, but with Davies, with one of Gana/MS behind and Rooney as the playmaker.
Klaassen could / should have been eased in gradually.
I'm not going to pretend he's going to be our saviour, because he isn't, but technically he's one of the best players in our squad in terms of his ability to knock the ball about quickly and accurately.
His lack of pace is an issue, as is his lack of aggression/strength, but that can come with a bit of work in the gym and on the training pitch. He may not be doing that work, we don't know.
Davies shows what we lack there. He pushes us forward because he is willing to make those runs and press the defence. That's what Klaassen can do, but ultimately even though he has more quality on the ball than Davies, lacks the acceleration and aggression that Davies has.
Klassen is a one touch player but dead slow! All good points mate as I thought Klassen would be the direct competition for Davies this season..like you say though Toff, Davies beats him on a lot of important aspects and I'm not sure Davy has it in his locker to go away and work on those things such as strength, energy, constant pressing. He's just looked so timid and afraid hasn't he. Not nice to see.
