2017/18 Tom Davies

Big fan of Tom but he can be a bit of a passenger in midfield, spends a lot of time chasing the ball and rarely seems to be in the right place. There's a lot to be said for being a willing runner but I'd love to seem him show a bit more composure and positional nous when we're on the ball.

He needs to bulk up easily pushed around also I don't think he's a good tackler just seems to dangle his foot. That's why he get booked regularly
 
In a choice between him and Beni, Beni wins every time. better tackler, far more composure, not a red card risk, no needless freekicks given away.
Tom has good energy, but he needs more composure, he just seems to be trying too hard

Tom can create a goal like last nights 2nd Beni is a very good prospect, he will also come good!
More defensive minded than Tom!

I don't see anything you've said as true mate ( differing opinions are sound;)

I see a player constantly asking for the ball
I see a player taking the ball in tight spots and 9/10 retaining possssion
I see a player driving forward with the ball
I see a player always looking for the forward pass
I see a player who can take the ball whilst facing his own goal and not be afraid

BUT most importantly!

I see a player who makes Gueye look like a solid defensive mid because when Davies plays like last night, Gueye just set back and thought "yep, that kids got that part of the pitch so I'll just do my job and do it well".

I see Gylfi look a better player becsuse he has a forward thinking midfielder pushing up
I see Rooney trust this kid in the middle of the park knowing Davies has the legs where he hasn't
I see strikers make little bursts of runs hoping a ball might be on its way


Loads to learn, had some tough moments this season but does not and will not hide from the ball and that makes a massive difference to how we play

Probably be crap Saturday now or get dropped lol

Edit - sorry for the long rant but just to finish

He would be my pick for the midfield week in week out as for me, for his age, has shown so much potential and willingness to put things right on the pitch

When we have tactics and proper roles for everyone he’ll flourish
