I don't want to get rid of him like some on here, but i do think he may need a loan somewhere. Despite his age, he really does need to improve his control of the ball a bit better if he wants to play PL football. I have seen 9 year olds on a Sunday morning in the local park who can use the ball better. There is definately a player in there somewhere and every now and again you see flashes of it (like the pass to Baines) but he needs to go back to basics for a bit because at the moment he looks like a fish out of water.

Not even getting in the squad when Siggy is injured is baffling. Same with Vlasic today.

Davies hasn't played well all season. He's came on and upped the tempo a few times at home but that's more down to his desire than actual technical ability.

We talk about Calvert-Lewin needing a loan but I think Davies is in equal need of one. Not a chance he should still be starting next season.

See this is my problem. I agree he shouldn't be a regular starter next season, not unless his performances have improved dramatically anyway. But that doesn't mean to say he has to automatically go on loan. Part of his problem this season is that he has been overplayed. Young players need rest. He's practically played a season and a half in the "hardest" league in the world, as a teenager without a break.

The thing is we need a squad of 25 players realistically. We need to improve our regular first choice starters in the transfer window but there's no reason why our youngsters, Davies and DCL included, can't make up our squad places. I'd rather see them in there than the likes of Mirallas, Niasse, Bolasie, Schneiderlin, Besic, Williams, Martina etc.

Mentioned in the DCL thread. Its the senior players that need replacing, not the kids. Been the problem for years. Being critical of the likes of Barkley, Lukaku, and Stones...yet we kept hold of the likes of Mirallas, Kone etc etc stinking the place out.

I would be inclined to agree but he has been so far short of the standard this season that I think he needs to go away and prove himself. Right now, I don't see how he gets game time for us.

I don't think it's anything to do with him being a youngster or being overplayed he just hasn't been good enough at any point. I know it's difficult given the shambles that we have been as a team collectively but Davies has really stood as being particularly awful.

So you don't think it has anything to do with the fact that he showed Allardyce up on the last day of the transfer window?. Don't underestimate the Big Mans ego. If he's still here in the summer we won't be seeing Lookman again.

You have absolutely no evidence that Klaassen is awful. He had a difficult time settling into a team where Rooney, he and Siggy were all trying to play the same role. He hasn't played since the Cyprus game in early December, not even for the U23s. Oh, apart from the 5 min cameo against Brighton when he was given a warm reception by both the fans and the players.

No this has Allardyce's spitefulness written all over it.

You're right but the problem is, why would he? He's got a big long term deal, if his agent is good he'll have some great option in there to renew, and his mid-season breaks involve him and that other useless bottler DCL swanning around in flowery shirts in Dubai on the club's money. He's never going to the World Cup, so he doesn't even have to improve, plus the club want to keep him around for his cringey 'one of us' routines.

He's got a big long term deal, if his agent is good he'll have some great option in there to renew, and his mid-season breaks involve him and that other useless bottler DCL swanning around in flowery shirts in Dubai on the club's money. He's never going to the World Cup, so he doesn't even have to improve, plus the club want to keep him around for his cringey 'one of us' routines.

I'm genuinely gutted to write him off so much because it's obvious he's a blue who cares about the club, but it's actually as obvious that right now he is nowhere good enough for the first team.

You're right about the chances of him going on loan being very slim. Given that is the case, I don't think it'll be long before a new manager looked to move him on unless performances drastically improve. That's how bad he looks right now.

Send Davies to the championship next season on loan and you'll get a championship player come back. He won't learn anything there as he's already that level. he'll just be a very tired boy at the end of it.

..it really doesn’t matter about age, we simply need better players. If Davies can force his way into a better team, that will be fair enough but we are in urgent need of meaningful recruitment.
