I really don't rate him. For a central midfielder he doesn't get on the ball enough for me and spends most of his game chasing the ball. He is also too weak. I don't think he'll make it but as he is only 19 he has plenty of time to improve.

To all the people calling for him to go on loan next season: where is he going to be getting a game with these performances? If he was in an average Championship team most of the games would pass him by. Next year is absolutely massive for him, another season like this and it's difficult to see a future for him.

People say Lookman is crap because three managers didn’t start him , so by the same token Davies must have something as three managers regularly started him. The sad thing for me is that for all his faults he’s actually good enough to get into our team . People who “ can’t see what he does” either only watch highlights of MOTD or can’t see a picture of a whole pitch and our tactics .
Davies is a box to box midfielder. It doesn’t mean he picks up the ball in our box and drives the length of the field with the ball . Big Sam asks him to do something specific and he does as he’s asked. He literally is the one who regularly moves from box to box. Siggi , doesn’t do it neither do Rooney or Gueye. Those three are currently better all round players than Davies and all have something he hasn’t got. But, and here’s the rub, he has something that each of them don’t have. He can’t tackle like Gueye but gets forward faster and further, he can’t control a game like Rooney but he has the legs that he doesn’t . He hasn’t the finesse of Siggi but makes himself available in the tight places.
He’s the one who closes down the space in the middle, throwing himself forward to block or stop an opponent moving forward. Out of all our players he’s the one who’s most often closest to an opponent with the ball - that’s my observation , don’t have stats to prove it. As a result it reduces the number of attacks coming straight down our middle, in essence he’s protecting our defence but in a different way than Gueye does. I’m presuming this is what Big Sam wants to carry out his master plan of creating clean sheets.
Davies frustrates the hell out of me , particularly with his passing , but in fairness he’s often the one who takes up a forward midfield position and receives the ball when stationary and surrounded by opponents as he finds the space to help out others. Then we roll our eyes when he loses the ball. I would love it if his only role this season was coming off the bench and adding energy. He can’t start every game, and I would love it even more if our team was so good , or our tactics so different that we didn’t need him to start some games. But he will continue to be needed this season.

Let’s not go OTT.

I love the piss-boiling streak he's got, we haven't had a player who annoys opposition players and supporters that much since Cahill. Seeing those Stoke mutants baying for his blood through nuclear winter really warmed my heart. They've never seen a man with long hair before, that to them is like dwarves from Middle-Earth discovering a supermodel.

Send him to League One.
